Hello guys,
What do you think what camera will be better for the night time IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+ or IPC-HFW2831TP-ZAS-S2 ?
IPC-T5442TM-AS is starlight + but HFW2831TP is just starlight but it is 8k?
Could you advice better any Dahua cameras for night than IPC-T5442TM-AS right now?

One way to quickly (but roughly) compare how well cameras are likely to perform in low-light situations (i.e. night time) is to compare their minimum illumination specs. The lower the lux rating, the better the camera is likely to do.

.002 lux = 5442
.008 lux = 2831 S2

As you can see, there's a notable difference which is probably why Dahua markets the 5442 as Starlight+ while the 2831 is "only" Starlight.

IMO, minimum illumination specs from manufacturers are always suspect, so it's always best to do what you did and find owner reviews of the models and read as much as you can (and view as many sample videos as you can).

Also remember that how much light you have around your area at night will influence how well the camera does. If you're out in the country where it's extremely dark at night, a 2831 will probably not work well. Even a 5442 may be a challenge. But if you're in a neighborhood and near street lights (or have lights around the exterior of your house that are always on at night), a 2831 may work well at night.

There's a "big" difference between Starlight+ versus Starlight, not kidding. Don't fall for the marketing trap. :)

Thank you very much for response.
I'm going to order IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED.

What is Starlight version of your tested camera?

This camera supports Starlight from official site .
From China Dahua support this camera support Full-color Starlight mode.
Where is truth?
Can this camera have different Starlight modes for different markets?

@Scale If you really need white light LED, take this one. Otherwise I would definitely choose TM-AS model with ICR. My latest Low light test compares exactly the two sensors you are considering. 5442 is clearly better.

Ok, that's weird.

When this 5442 turret model (and the non-LED model) came out, the official Dahua international site had them both labeled as Starlight+, like below:

Now they're labeled as just Starlight:

From one of their press releases, this is how they used to define Starlight:

Thank you right now I came accorss that there versions of 5442 camera
Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS
Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS-LED
I didn't get what does white light LED means.
Which one of these two cameras will be beter in the evening and times in location where there aren't any additional lightds on country side?
IMHO Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS-LED is more expensive so it have to work better in the night, isn't it?

The white LED model emits visible light in the dark, as opposed to nearly-invisible IR light. Because of this it's able to stay in color mode all of the time, instead of switching to B/W when it's dark out.
What would be a real life example where a model with LED would be preferred?
