That one is 80+Titanium. It is better than 92% efficient from 10% load to 100% load (at 230v supply). They’ve made a lot of improvements in power supplies to get these efficiency numbers up (if you can afford to buy into those higher tiers). Even the lowest certified tiers (bronze/white) would be at least 80% efficient (considered to be basically garbage nowadays) from 20% load to 100% load

But yeah agree with you that I hope @tech101 has some other uses that make him some MONEY with that machine, because its a monster and certainly overkill for just BI. However, not wanting to be a kettle, since I am doing something similarly silly!

No, Like I said its not just going to be BI, There will be other stuff I am doing while BI is running in background. Like Working in Photoshop. Editing video when I fly drones working with raw images which should not be much. Also Would love to stream one or two of my CCTV camera to Youtube every now and then, Play games at times. Some other stuff.

Then I work from home at times not just because of lock down My monitor should come in handy hopefully. For Working at the same time. Now one thing I would really really love is one more of these 49 inch monitor and mount it on the top I have not found the mount which can do it yet... It is a heavy monitor 49 inch CRG9 Dual QHD Curved QLED Gaming Monitor Monitors - LC49RG90SSNXZA | Samsung US

Linus over at LTT (youtube) just mounted basically TWO giant (idk if they were 49” monitors) vertically on a VIVO desk mounts.

I have one of those mounts, and no way would I put that kind of weight on it. If you can I’d do a wall mount for a big TV, they have kinds that pull out from the wall and swivel etc, and I’d be way more comfortable with those holding the weight for years to come.

HAHAH @ linus love the video. Yeah That mount is definitely struggling when he had to over tight LOL. One thing I noticed he had to tilt his head up a bit to look now that be interesting thought how comfortable that is. But I guess could be used for Blueiris display on top LOL and work at bottom :D monitor Thanks for sharing that I will look at some wall mounts too. One thing Interesting he said How the buttons are at the side on samsung it is at the bottom.. Now That can be a problem for me. I might have to switch out for diffrent ultrawide monitor if I am to do this.. Since I do also switch Input every now and then switching from work PC to my machine. Will have to give it a more thought thank you That is already giving me some prespective on what I would need to do if I go this route :D

A single 4K TV or monitor is a pretty amazing for Blue Iris or for desktop productivity. At 43 inch size, the DPI is perfectly usable without scaling. Larger panels aren't really something you would want to use at a desk because they don't offer you any more usable space and just make everything bigger. The only way you get more usable desktop space without multiple monitors is by buying an 8K TV (which I would not recommend yet, as you most likely won't get to run it at 60hz).

I also want to warn against the 120 and 144hz 43 inch 4K monitors currently available from Asus and Acer. I got one of each of those brands and returned them both because the panel (which they both share) has a weird pixel crosstalk issue which makes a lot of text and certain colors of horizontal lines get rendered slightly incorrectly. A lot of people don't even notice the problem, but I do pixel-precise work all the time so it was unacceptable to me to have a monitor that can't render pixel-precise details the way they were intended.

Yeah that is quite a flat curve. Definately some improvement. Used to be terrible away from 80% load. I'm guessing he'll see the lower figure with system draw though as I reckon it's probably around 550-600 watts.

I think I can push Above 600 watts easy :) with dual 2080 ti dont know what 3080 ti if that's a thing will consume in terms of power and on top of that Liquid cooling 3 360 radiator multiple HDD thinking of 4/5 of the 20 tb if they release on time.

Any updates on the build? I'm doing a TR 3970x build right now that will be done in a few weeks. My current 9900k system is getting crushed, so it'll be interesting to see what improvements the TR and higher memory bandwidth bring to the table.

Probably couple of months out..

So Far I am still to buy the Video cards, Memory 64 gb per dim Most likely so I can have 512 gb of ram. And Custom loops. Some of the custom loop parts are out of stock..

I have everything else now.. Just waiting on those parts.. Basically :D

Would be very interested in your 3970x build let me know how it goes and share some pics and results. :D

What is your load? Unless you have an extremely high load most of the time this is a result of improper setup particularly with the new substream for decoding support.

I have a... peculiar setup. I built the 9900k PC last year, but it trips the breaker in the room I wanted to put it in due to all the other devices and appliances running. Because of the old wiring, I can't upgrade to a 20a circuit unless all the wiring is replaced. I have the PC in another room with a persistent RDP session to my main PC (on a 4k monitor), which accounts for extreme amounts of CPU overhead, even with RDP hardware encoding enabled via group policy. I tried the remote management functionality in BI as an alternative, but it was heavily pixelated.

Even after going through the BI optimization guide, turning the FPS down on my cams (about 1800 MP/s out of a possible 3000-ish MP/s), and limiting live preview rate to 3 fps for remote viewing, it is still choking and running at about 90% load and pretty high temps. Figured the 3970x build would be a good brute force alternative.

@mrc545 In my test I couldn't go really beyond 1900 MP/s with a Ryzen 3950X running DDR4-3600 memory, and lower memory speed cut down on the capacity even though the CPU wasn't even heavily loaded.

So a 3970x build with its quad channel memory should have more capacity. Whether it is worth the expense or not, only you can decide. I was considering a similar upgrade but once sub stream support started getting implemented in BI, I decided to stick with my i7-8700K.

Or wait until I finish by build log and testing on my new EPYC server build (coming soon)! The completely unnecessary, over-the-top build of builds.

I am literally just waiting on the motherboard, hopefully by Wednesday I can begin the build.

@tech101 - That's a lot of RAM! What motherboard supports that capacity? I'm going with the Aorus Master, 64GB DDR4-3600mhz CL16 in 16GB DIMMs. Going to give the TR-specific Noctua cooler a shot. Adding two of the chromax variant fans to the cooler for push/pull. Slightly higher RPM's as well. I will most likely upgrade to a Thermosiphon when they are no longer vaporware, but I am often away for weeks at a time for work, and don't want to risk anything going awry with liquid cooling if I'm halfway across the world.

I might take some heat for this, but I'm giving the Seagate Skyhawk AI drives a shot, for the sole reason that their TB/year endurance is 3x that of the WD purples. So far 2 out of 4 of my WD purples have bitten the dust in the past calendar year. But I'm also writing 3-4x as much as their rated endurance, so I can't really fault the drive. We'll see how they hold up.

@bp2008 - Firstly, thank you for all you do. Your write-up was fantastic, and your findings on memory bandwidth limitations were one of the main reasons I went with this setup and this specific type of RAM. From what I've read, 3600 MHz is the sweet spot for a 1:1 infinity fabric ratio.

Parts started tricking in today, and most should be here by next weekend. Unfortunately the case and mobo are going to be some of the last to arrive. Once it's up and running, I'll get performance stats while running locally, then see how much it gets crushed by RDP.

What power consumption figures do you guys have with these AMD builds ?
I'll put my line splitter and clamp meter on it once I get it up and running. I'm stuffing 10 spinners, an RTX 2060 and a GTX 1660 in there. The Outervision PSU calculator is estimating about 900w load running 90% TDP for my system.

Case is all configured with the fans and initial cable management routing on the back. Working on the mobo today outside of the case. All components are in except for the PSU and GPU support brackets, which will be here tomorrow and Wednesday, respectively. Should have it fired up and doing OS configuration by Wednesday.

Went with Noctua industrial fans for the front push/pull through the front intake/drive bays, the bottom intake, and the upper rear exhaust. It's going to be in an uninhabited room with the door closed, so I don't care about the extra noise. Since I'm giving air cooling a shot with it, those 3000 RPM's might come in handy.

There is a space at the bottom rear for a 120mm/140mm fan (circled in green in the picture), but I don't see any added value in putting one there, as I feel it would just suck out the cool air that the two adjacent 140mm's are pulling in from the bottom intake. Any opinions to the contrary are welcomed!

These are the consumption measures for my EPYC 7302P build on a TYAN S8030GM4NE-2T, with 5-3.5" drives and 2-SSD as well as 4 fans.

Update- Took the mobo out of the box and it had a capacitor leaking. I can't win. New one is going to be here Thursday,
