I have a 5241 and 5231 that I am testing for LPR's. The 5241 was bought from Andy on Amazon (the 4231 may have been as well).
Tripwire is not working on the 5241 and 5231 tripwire misses about half the cars that cross it.
I upgraded the firmware to the one listed here on the forum (R16) on the 5241 and the 5231 is on the latest I can find.
They are powered by a POE switch, have the tripwires setup up and the Smartplan is set to IVS on both camera.

Get OpenALPR if you are going to record license plates as it does not miss cars as long as they have a plate and the accuracy is pretty amazing. More than worth the $5 per month and all the time your are going to waste trying to get
tripwire working with cars, etc.

Try playing with the tripwire line length and target size. On a different Dahua camera I found sometimes the proportion of object to trip line size was a problem. Another time I had the minimum target size too big.

Ive had similar problems with both models and IVS.
I set regular old MD in addition to IVS at night only. I'm now getting 100%. Not fancy but it works fine.
