Looking forward to my sd49255XA-HNR and DH-SD6AL445XA-HNR-IR coming (hopefully) soon from Andy as well. I read this review of the 49255 and couldn't resist one. Incredible value for what you pay from what I see. Hopefully the bugs are getting less and less common.

disable smart codec if you have disappeared IVS
Hi, new to the forums here. I've been lurking for a while though :D. I purchased a Dahua branded SD-49225XA-HNR and 4208-8P-4KS2(GUI4.0) NVR as my first camera system for my house with a Microseven M7WP-MIC. Before mounting I tested everything out, all features were working including the AI functions (Face Detection etc) the audio from the microphone was fantastic as well, I can hear everything going on all around. After mounting everything, running the cables I realized that the Deep IVS tab is not present again when I log into the Camera itself and through the AI>Parameters on the NVR the AI functions are not selectable, including not being able to set up a Smart Plan. I was able to set up Presets for the Tour feature and add in Tripwire and Intrusion triggers via the camera's homepage, but I can't set up different Smart Plans (namely IVS, Face Detection, Metadata) again. I have not updated the camera nor NVR. I DO have it running on H.265 and the Smart Codec checked. These options worked before, I'm not sure if after enabling the Smart Codec things changed.

My question is how do I get these back? Is it really because I have smart codec enabled? If not then some insight would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Storage is cheap. Invest in more and run 24/7 recording in addition to IVS events.
Trust me that MANY folks have come here with the idea they only need to record motion, almost always they eventually see the light that 24/7 recording is far better. Things happen before/after a motion event and even outside of your defined event trigger area that can be important.

Awesome! Great advice. Yeah storage is pretty cheap. Thanks for the insight I'll definitely do that. :)

Very happy with this camera. Sometimes I have noticed that I will (rarely) not receive alerts even though the camera is auto tracking the object. The majority of the time it works as intended though. I was wondering if there's something I should focus on either in the camera's UI or Blue Iris? I am running version 5.2.9.19 - perhaps updating it is the obvious answer though I'm hesitant.

I posted back on page 42 that I purchased the 4MP version from @EMPIRETECANDY and how incredible it is right out of the box.

I had tried some tweaks and thought I had it pretty good but sent a clip to @Wildcat_1 to see his thoughts. He made a few suggestions and improved it greatly and offered to jump onto the camera to tweak it some more.

All I can say is WOW. He has a reputation on this site of getting the most out of the cameras, and he doesn't disappoint. He knows every little trick, and many of them are opposite what you would think trying to set it up. This thing is so many times more better now, and I was generally pleased with it before he jumped on and made some tweaks.

The night image and tracking was what I felt was lacking in my setup. He offered to jump on it during the day and during the night and the improvement he made during the day was incredible. He was making it do what I wanted it to do but I couldn't get it there. The night is decent but we both agreed it could be better and he offered some light suggestions to try and then we will take another look at it. He also offered a few other suggestions to get the most out of my entire system.

What incredible resources we have on this forum. If he offers to jump on your system to help you out, I cannot recommend enough to take him up on his gracious offer - you will not be disappointed.

He is great for sure. I may have to ask him again, to help with this new camera. Sometimes it misses some cars driving by, and I don't understand why.
It seems like in the beginning, it tracked much better then now.
A few days ago, I have unplugged it and when I have plugged it back it, it does not track as well. I have done a factory reset, which did not help.

This camera has been a lot of fun----finally mounted it last weekend and tinkered with the auto-tracking last night. WOW--- there are SO MANY POSSIBILITIES and ways to make this work....

Can you remind me what is the 4MP model number to which you are referring? Is it the SD5A425XA-HNR or something else? The 4MP model didn't have the issue where Dahua disabled auto-tracking after release, right?

For 4MP PTZ, I recommend the SD5A425XA-HNR. For reference here, @wittaj has the 49425

Lower light Performance I imagine and more pixels not needed because 25x zoom ?
How is 49425 in comparison? It is not much more expensive. Almost same price.
There is actually not a huge difference in low-light between them, There will be a difference of-course, I have went for the 4MP (49425) For the simple reason that the PTZ will be the only camera covering the front of my property & thus I needed high MP when fully zoomed out as that is what it will be mostly preset to until it autotracks something, I guess it all depends on your own purposes but from the videos I have seen there is not a huge difference but if your working with very low light conditions the 2 MP version is going to treat you much better at night.

So what were the settings that he changed that you thought were the opposite? Just curious and I realize that different lighting may change things but would be nice to get some actual feedback on what settings were being changed.
