@th182 I cycle through them faster than I'd like to, but I also add a good quality stabilizer to them prior to filling the 5 gallon cans. I've been doing that for a few years and have yet to have a problem related to "stale" fuel. I make sure they're all full when I know there's a storm coming, but they also supply the lawn tractor, chipper/shredder, rototiller, string trimmer, chain saw, snow blower, leaf blower and a partridge in a pear tree. I'm planning on a new generator, 10-12KW, and will probably add another 20 gallons, minimum, when I do that.
So you are saying I need to increase my cylinder index so I can cycle through the gas faster!! I have a 5 gallon tank for yard work and I feel like I only fill that up a couple-tree-times a year.

Sounds like I need a tractor and the edger I’ve been eyeing. How to sell it to the wife... might have to try the 48-hour rule.

If money wasn’t a concern I’d have a natural gas or propane generator installed. I went with gasoline and my biggest criteria was low THD so my picky UPS units would accept it as clean power. They wouldn’t kick off of battery with my old generator.

The new generator will also be dual fuel, I hope, and I also plan on a couple of 100 pound cylinders. I'm stuck running a well pump, electric water heater as well as the AC or heat and all the computers, networking gear, cameras, lights, ceiling fans, refrigerator, freezers and everything else. We have a 7KW now and it works too hard with the AC running and, if the AC is running, we can't run the water heater. I think a 10KW running watts, 12KW surge, will handle things completely without working too hard.

You know I hear that all the time. Ever see a propane tank go up? Just as bad as gasoline and gas (propane or natural), while it burns cleaner, doesn't produce as much power as gasoline. Dual fuel allows the most flexibility.
