Saturday morning we had three fools walking down our block at 2 AM checking every car door on the block. Only house they didn't appear to hit was my neighbor who has bright motion lights on their driveway.

Two neighbors had unlocked cars but from talking to them it doesn't sound like they took anything. I'm guessing they were looking for change since they left a nice code reader in one of the cars.

I have since adjusted my PTZ up to get some of its IR light to the street. Might add some illuminators as well. All the neighbors thanked me for letting them know and one was impressed I was able to know what car in their driveway was hit from my house.

Wow hope they get caught here in California I had that happened this weekend called the cops. They pretty much said we cannot do anything and for the mail theft just report it to USPS postal inspector. I provided the footage to neigbhor and asked them to contact at-least USPS postal inspector one car was broken into but nothing much was taken as CA law states "The California Supreme Court ruled that under Proposition 47, the theft of a car worth $950 or less is a misdemeanor "

Meaning that the green light is on. That is a crying shame for this communist state. Misdemeanors are a joke this day and age. I guess they think if they jailed eveyone for theft, they don;t have enough jail space. The solution is to axe some hands, and that would have everyone thinking twice.

Thanks for sharing!

I gotta say....at 2 AM instead of operating a PTZ I'd be tempted to be going out the front door with a pump shotgun and its mounted bright LED flashlight while LOUDLY racking one into the chamber...

I detest thieves....
Was all auto-tracking! I was sound asleep or I would have introduced myself!

Great captures. It would have been nice if the PTZ would have stayed zoomed/tracking for about 3-5 seconds longer.

Agreed! I have since adjusted the preset up a little higher. The IR now illuminates the street and yards much better. Hopefully if it drops a track it's able to pick it back up again. I've found it's not great at tracking if the subject is close in color/contrast to the background.
