Hi Everyone!

Thanks for letting me join this great community.

I've recently ordered a Lorex NVR system from Costco. It's still being shipped and should arrive in about 2 weeks,.

See the specs from the Lorex website:

I went with the Costco product for various reasons:
  • looks like it's good for the price
  • reliable to record and live view 24/7 with PC and mobile clients
  • set and forget as I don't want to deal with the various OS and software updates from a Windows based VMS
  • good store return policy if the don't like it

According to the website, the model of the NVR is N882A64B. I hope it's a Dahua OEM. How can I find out for sure?

I need a few more cameras to cover the different areas around my house. Will add some of the highly recommended Dahua Starlight Turret cameras that's often mentioned here.

My questions is will IPC-T2431T-AS or any Dahua IP cameras work with the NVR?

If I can't get the Starlights to work can return the system and order a NVR from here.

Thoughts?

Looking forward to the replies and learning more.

Thanks

Welcome @HappyEV

Should work as all are Dahua OEM... ( remember you may need to sync IP, port, user / password, and substream info .. look for the lorex threads on more info on that )

That noted, the 4MP camera you're looking at has a 1/3" sensor, and thus I would recommend looking for a 4MP 1/1.8" sensor version instead

Thanks for the suggestion @mat200 . That makes me feel a bit better.

I'll definitely get the one with the larger sensor.
These are great 4MP 1/1.8" cams - IPC-T5442TM-AS

It looks like the specs of your Lorex cams are 8MP/4K 1/1.8” CMOS 2.8mm. The 4MP should perform better than the 8MP ones in low light but at least yours will have the bigger sensor. Being 2.8mm they will give a wide angle view but you won't be able to see things real close with them unless the object in very near the camera.

Plenty of reviews here if you search with that name. I've bought all mine from Andy here in the forum.

Audio is decent. As good as any other cams I've had with a built-in mic. I have an external mic on my big PTZ and it has better pick-up than my 5442's. But, i'm satisfied with the 5442's audio because I don't have to add in an extra cable to conceal...

Thanks @bradner

Can anyone comment if that particular model of Lorex NVR can be flashed with an official Dahua firmware. Not sure if this is a common practice or not.
