Oh shoot, that was not my intention. I bought from Andy on Amazon but may have missed the model letter change
Andy is good about letting you return items, so is amazon. You can just PM @EMPIRETECANDY and let him know and he can get the model in this thread for you.

Thanks. It was many months ago. All 12 are installed, one died.

So I'll just see if the new 4K Varifocal Starlights come out and are better. Does anyone know if there is a new model number?

I have one of these cameras and decided to start playing with IVS....until I found it isn't in the menus anywhere. Any idea what is going on?

So after they trashed my neighbors car I figured i should widen my views beyond my house. I got a IPC-T2231T-ZS to cover a walkway and street and moved the older camera to neighborhood watch. I noticed that forcing the t2231t into color at night with a streetlight 25' away works nice but the cars driving by are a blur and honestly in BW not much better. What type of settings you guys using?

Motion blur is usually two things and worse in low light. You’ll probably get a better image in B&W with that camera. It takes a shitload of white light to run color at night.

1- shutter speed. You need something like 1/120 exposure to freeze things at night. It depends on your ambient light and the sensor. Try different manual exposures from 1/60 to 1/250.
2- DNR- you never want more than 50, preferably closer to 30

You can also play with gain a bit, it will brighten the image, but create more noise.

I'm having issue with my IR light. I have not had a need to actually use night mode till recently as this camera is in a remote location keeping eye on some construction going on. At first I thought it was stuck in daylight mode, but I was able to remote in and force night mode which did not solve the issue. I have also tried to update the firmware with no success :( Anyone have any ideas of what the issue is? could it be power related? the camera is not poe powered but instead using a 12v 1A wall wart. Should have done poe, but I did not think things through

You are lucky use this 12V 1a can power the camera, actually the camera need 12V 1.5A at least, but normally we recommend to use 12V 2A or else the IR can't start.
Thanks Andy for confirmation. I'll just get a Poe switch for this location. It was a quick and dirty swap from a previous cam.

Thanks for the review.
Will this camera work with ONVIF on a Hikvision NVR?

Just to check with this camera, the IVS is pretty much the same as normal motion detection, except it can not be the whole screen? I can't have it only detect people or cars?

I only have 1 of these, and by the time i went to buy more than T3241 existed so bought them instead. They do have the object filter though, (plus a microphone).

Yes, the 3241 has SMD, the 2mp is cheaper for lower budget cams.

Thanks Andy.

I though SMD was different again and only works with certain NVRs? It has its own section in the other cameras below motion detection rather than under ivs.

So then on this 2231 the only difference between motion sensing and IVS is that I can limit the part of the screen that the event detects in? I'm getting events for moths over the camera more than anything else. At least the ivs means that breezes in the trees don't set it off (I don't think)

Using IVs along with human or automobile filtering will almost always do much better job than using SMD.

Thanks again. Is this cam not having SMD related to the fact that it also doesn't have human or car filtering in its IVS settings?

Or should this setting be there and I need a new firmware?
