Hello,

I bought 2 PTZ 5 mega pixels, 30x zoom cameras which deliver a great picture with super optical zoom. For the price, i"am satisfied.

But I ask myself a question: I had an internet cut for 1 hour, and the resolution of the images or videos has dropped from 5mp to not even 1 mp, how is this possible?

Does this mean that the cameras communicate with a server? Is there a risk of bacdoor?
My other foscam or reolink cameras keep their resolution.

Cordially

There's always a risk of a backdoor. Best to prevent the camera from having internet access, and remote view only through a VPN (run the VPN server on your router or on a PC on your LAN).

Without a lot more details, we can't even guess why your resolution dropped.

+ details: they are delivered with a software named "CMS", the image is not displayed in a browser. They are connected in ethernet to internal IP on my asus router
Below is the screenshot of the video and camera settings are correctly set in 5 megapixel

Before the internet cut, the images were 5 megapixels, after only 800 x 448 or 704 x 480 ??

check the 'network' configuration pages for UPNP any cloud-type service and make sure it's disabled. then reboot your router.

Ok i will check this but look what i found
Looks like I got tricked, impossible to uncheck public network in the windows firewall! moreover the "CMS" lines are created alone !!

I have the answer to my question, when the camera no longer accesses the public network, the resolution is greatly reduced !!

that's very odd. there should be some way to avoid that. what client app are you using to view the cams?

and when i mentioned checking the network config settings, i meant on the camera, not your PC or tablet.
what's the 'cloud' (Nuage) configuration set to, for example...

Just makes me more suspicious that it's doing something nefarious. After all, why else would software effectively force you to connect to a public network? It sounds to me as though it's possibly set up to be persuasive.

IF you have AV software, you could try submitting the software to an AV vendor for analysis as containing a suspected back door. Only issue here is often the permitted file sizes are very small. Wouldn't solve your problems but might provide some answers. best advice I could give would be ditch them and buy something OEM Dahua from Andy (empire Candy) on here.

sebastiantombs : It appears that you got what you paid for.
for the moment I am satisfied with my purchase, that's why I took 2, the image in 5 mp is superb and especially the real optical zoom 30 x, for barely 130 euros

It is indeed the parameters of the camera that I displayed, they are only accessible via the supplied client software which is called "cms" and which allows to configure the camera. I use it with synology station monitoring in onvif, and it works very well, except the ptz preset

Access to the public network can be disabled, but in this case there is a degradation of the resolution. I don't think there is a backdoor, rather I think the firmware is like that.
I have scanned the "cms" software with malwarebyte, the firewall and traffic control is enabled on my asus router, no detection. The cloud and the upnp are indeed disabled

this type of high resolution camera (5 mp) and especially 30x zoom is sold by dozens of different brands, with different firmware and also a much more expensive price (around 300 €)

I take this thread to ask if anyone knows how to activate a ptz preset from the onvif command line?

The only flaw is that I can not get it to position itself on a ptz preset on ignition

try reaching out to the vendor and see what they have to offer.

on many of thes PTZ's, preset 1 is the default (or 'park') location after a reboot. not yours?

Chinese seller on ebay who replies auto text, lol

Unfortunately it does not work, I have adjusted several PTZs, including n ° 1 of course, but the camera does not resume; When switching on it turns in different directions, makes a round trip with its zoom, but the lens stays down ..... It's a shame because the image is of very good quality and the zoom is fantastic . I think I could find a trick

Doryphore, so your saying the camera WORKS (for the most part) but you just need a way to invoke Preset 1 (or N) after a reboot? i'm pretty sure that if the original firmware doesn't do that, flashing new FW will not fix it. these no-name off-brands cams rarely ever provide better firmware or fix anything after the sale... either live with it as is (manually reposition in the CMS or web interface after reboot) or find some other workaround. Maybe send a preset 1 command via http every few minutes?

as for the lowered resolution when no internet is available, i still feel that has to be a configuration issue, or something to do with how you are viewing the stream...

hello,

I agree with you, nothing to hope for from the firmware, on the other hand I found a way to place an order in http. it would be enough to send it only once at startup (my home automation system can do it).
The link below explains how to send an http command by synology surveillance station), unfortunately the presets do not work on surveillance station even though they work well with other software, I'm really out of luck !!

I tried it works fine with another camera
But it is true that the image is fantastic and the zoom 30x incredible !!!
