Hi, i have one of my 6mp Hikvison setup fairly sensitive to record which i am happy with, i would like to be able to record the sub-stream of the same camera whist the main stream is not triggered, i this possible and if so how.

Thanks

billions and billions of post of such a subject over the last 8-9 months. There is a magnifying glass icon upper right of page called "search". Might get you the information faster and more in depth than a single reply.

Yes got the search, i know i could just continuously record the sub-stream then on any motion, trigger the main stream to record, but seen as my main stream is trigger recording maybe 75% of the time, i wondered if i could maybe reverse this process to save HDD space, so rather than have an 100% sub-stream and an 75% main stream on the HDD, i would only have 75% main stream and 25% sub-stream on the HDD, i think what i am trying to ask is rather than have 2 streams record simultaneously can BI be made to switch between streams dependant on trigger state of a specific camera/stream.

This option is not available. Other vms like NX witness support this function. You can email support and ask for it.
Considering that the substream uses very little storage particularly at h265, you are saving very little space by doing this.

what is going on that 75% of the time, your main stream is recording? My substreams record 97% of the time with main streams around 3% for IVS triggered alerts using camera AI and Deepstack AI /OnGuard for non-AI cameras.
