Dell Refurbished is taking 45% off refurbished Dell Desktops with coupon code DAD4UDESKTOP (Exp 6/21). Excludes clearance. Shipping is free with the same code.

I saw this and after reading the Wiki I got somewhat confused. I have 32 cameras and am looking for the the best refurbished Dell I can find. Would something like this work:

...and adding a new larger capacity hard drive?

I would not go with an I5-6500 with 32 cameras. Remember we will be going to windows 11. Also The Use of deep stack is causing an increase in CPU demand.
You will need at least 16 GB memory.
What is the MP/SEC total for your system.
You will need to add at least a ~200 GB SSD for the system and BI.
You will more than likely need to add an 8TB surveillance disk drive (WD Purple).
I would look at EBAY for Dell Optiplex or an HP EliteDesk.
Make sure that case will have space to add the disk drive. Some of the SFF are two small to grow.

Check your CPU performance

Is there an i-7 version? I think that might handle your load easier. Can't say if thats better than what you have? what do you have?
Yes. With 32 gigs. I would swap out the hard drive as well.
Just not sure if something like this would be ok for BI

it will limit you. I've bought at least 10-12 used Dells from Ebay. but they keep shrinking the internal bay capacity.
Even the "Tower" has only 1 3.5" hard drive bay. I bought one like this for my buddy, and was surprised the other bay was only going to fit a 2.5 SSD with an m.2 NVME hard drive running Windows on the motherboard.

This time I followed Fendermans recommendation and got the Hp Elitedesk SFF( Small form Factor) it is had 2 3.5" hard drive bays and runs windows from an NVME on board hard drive. This works better on my cameras as far as playback system response. Half the Camera's continue writing data happily while the other drive works hard to call up the video file for playback.
Makes my system more responsive and my CPU %age runs a bit lower with 2 drives.

she's loaded up with32 Gigs of ram....loaded up with drives. low energy consumption, runs 8 threads simultaneously on the i7.....
if you really search the hell out of the Sellers. and their history and seller ratings and their ebay store you can get a sense of who your dealing with. If the guy has a 95% percent seller rating, and isn't showing the exact item for sale you might get something off the top of the heap in a warehouse full of PC's.
But you can get a picture of the actual item, and the seller rating is 98.9% or higher, I'd look at that listing. Ultimately I don't care what your selling on ebay, if your unresponsive and have complaints, I'm not buying from you.
