I know lots of people who own this popular camera and wanted to see RTSP support. As of this writing this can be done by following this resource link:

Thanks much. I hadn't seen that. I bought several when Home Depot put them on clearance just to see how they were. They're OK for what they are. Been hoping that they'd get this out so I could move them into BI.

If you follow through would love to know if theres any impact to the wyze application.

Yeah, I was reading the firmware notes. I think so but not sure to what extent. Apparently the Cam Plus stuff still works but they're kind of back and forth on how well and say don't use both.

I'll try one of mine tonight or tomorrow and report back.

I have to give credit to Wyze as the version 2 was my first cameras and did their RTSP beta back then. Due to the wifi connection issues I moved on to ethernet and full fledged system using Blue Iris and mostly Dahua cameras. No regrets here.

Well damn... wrote a long response and came back to finish it and it's gone.

Anyway... got the firmware installed. That was simple. No issues.

To answer your question, the app does still seem to work. Can't say that I've tried everything but everything that I tried does appear to work. I don't have a Cam Plus subscription for the cam I updated so not sure about that yet.

After playing with various strings got the cam parameters set up in BI OK.

That's when the problems started.

BI starts bouncing to 99% CPU. Doesn't load camera list, just shows Windows background. Etc... Finally could get UI3 to load now and then and could disable the cam, then things are back to normal.

I went through a long series of things that I tried but best that I can tell, for whatever reason, BI doesn't seem to like the audio stream. Disable that and seems to be OK. I thought maybe hardware acceleration was causing a problem, but I can enable that now and seems OK. Toggling audio on/off seems to cause/stop the problem.

I'll keep messing with it and update.

Out of curiosity does the Wyze 3 setup in BI the same as this for the Wyze 2. Photo attached.

Yes, same setup works.

Or one labeled Wyze with path as "/live" instead of "/unicast" as it tries.

Find/Inspect doesn't come up with the right parameters.

Looking through the Wyze forums, the audio issue seems to be common. Might first setup without audio turned on to avoid issues. I don't see any fix for that yet.

Second camera didn't work at first. Required another restart after the RTSP setup then came up fine.

Appreciate you taking the time to test and offer first hand experience of what to expect.

I have one of these cameras for a throw away project so didn’t want to brick the unit before I had a chance to at least test it!

Cam Plus does continue to work. From looking at the forums appears that if you have a subscription set up when you do the update then it will stay active.

Good so far. I see some in the beta thread complaining about various issues but no brickings that I've seen. Worth doing I think. Makes for much more useful little cams. I'm still not completely sure yet about what does not continue to work. Again, appreciate the post letting me know about it.

Tried changing audio to RTSP vs the default a-law but no joy. Same issue with spiking CPU.

I have a V3 for testing. I used it to watch the crazy little wrens nesting.

There are so many little projects that can be made if this all works out.
Bird house cam, game cam, car dash cam, etc..

Exactly what my intent was for a bird cam. Along with something others noted in a past thread which was for the sump pit! I won’t feel too bad if the camera dies (In the sump) or gets eaten by a bird.

The size is perfect for these close quarter locations. Couldn’t bring myself to install a $250-350.XX camera for the same.

Kind of funny... The Wyze cam gets so pixelated at times at night that it triggers BI's motion detection. Had to adjust things to try to compensate.

Here's an example of the artifacts that I see with the V3 that trigger BI's motion detection. Not sure what to do about these. They appear in various sizes and patterns at random times and are moving and changing shape in the live video. Can't really use line crossing or similar where this cam is positioned. Probably would trigger that too at times.

Not an important cam in this case. It's just watching a pond (bright area in the center) where various wildlife comes at night and I have others watching from other angles.

Is the video image really that fuzzy and unclear?!? Is the camera looking through a piece of glass vs just in the open?

I had mine sitting pressed against a three pane window for testing and the video is crystal clear so am surprised yours seem to be so unfocused?

Of course when I positioned the same outside the image and video was even better.

Finger print on the lens?!?
