Hello everyone, hope everyone is staying safe these days. I have a potential client that moved into a space in a mall that was a Disney store. It turns out that all the ip cameras were never taken and left behind. I was called to come and see if I can get these cameras to work all the cameras are connected to a POE switch and no NVR.
Could this be that Disney corporate was managing the cameras? And is it possible that I would just have to get a seperate NVR and re-route the cameras to the new NVR or should I just sell them a new system all togehter?
Thank you.

Do you know what brand cameras they were?

I suspect there was an NVR there and they simply took that.

It is best to match camera brand to NVR.

You can purchase a non POE NVR and then just run a cable from the NVR to the POE switch.

But without knowing brand and model, too many unknowns to give you a suggestion on keeping or tossing.

Knowing Disney, they should be high end cameras....but then again maybe they were swindled by someone that put cheap crap in.

Thank you.
You need to make a decision based on the following:
1. Age of the current cameras and network infrastructure
2. Are you able to support the technology (do you have knowledge and/or access to the product technical support)
3. Are those cameras fit for purpose?
4. Are the cameras positioned correctly for the new client's needs?
5. Do you have access to the administration of the current cameras?

In some cases, it is cheaper for the tenant to leave the existing systems as it is maybe more expensive to make good of the areas prior to exit.
I would consider the above prior to any decision.

Hope that it helps.

Thanks everyone for your replies as per SamM: Currently,no to all the above.
I would then recommend that you replace the system in its entirety, it will also give your client confidence when you are able to support them on the technology that you are familiar with.

You are welcome to DM.

I'm ok
Several stores I have worked IT on have NVRs mounted right into the same rack all of the servers are mounted.
They can roll the rack out and have 90% of it with very little work. The rest is not worth it.

I did grab a couple of cameras from a Toys r Us store that went under, but they were old enough they were not worth reusing.
