I have a GPU and it has been there the whole time I've been running BI, at least NVidia based anyway. I also run DS and have noticed that the number of instances of python in memory gets pretty high, memory and CPU both start climbing, DS detection times get very long (10000ms range when normally well under 100ms) and eventually DS crashes, restarts and everything is fine again for a while. I've had the BI service crash as well. Email going out to BI support in a few minutes on the audio problem and the DS problem. I don't think they're directly related but one never knows. I may drop back to the latest stable version since I'm on the bleeding edge of 5.5.4.4.

I've got to update the status here.

I was just at the console and every camera that should have audio do have audio. What's interesting is that the audio plays in single screen but no audio, at all, in the normal multi-view console. That's new to me. I rarely use audio on the console and it always played the combined streams of all the cameras in the multi-view mode, but not now. Am I completely nuts or has this changed somewhere along the way and I never noticed or is it something new or a potential problem?

I'm still seeing that strange behavior with DS/python and will keep an eye on it.

If I understand you correctly, that is not happening here.

Are you running the Synology NVR solution? I've been very tempted a few times to give it a shot

I've reviewed that item, but I already had a Synology NAS so I just went with it for now. This NAS will eventually (before too long) be side lined for duties other than security, and I'll either pick up a beefier one for Plex Server, Security etc service, or maybe look into the NVR they sell, or do both. It was months of frustration, but eventually I managed to find ways to get the Dahua, Synology NAS and my Macbook Pro to work along side each other. Now it feels like clear sailing, and I'm glad I stuck it out frankly.

Update on this:
Received a reply from Bi support.
I checked cameras audio recordings prior to answering, and found I now have lost audio on all 13 cameras recordings, going back 32 days.
Live audio works fine.
I've not made any changes from the time of my email to them.

Email I received:
For the camera that works with 5.5.3.7 and does not work with 5.5.4.4, is that reproducible? If so,
  • Send the camera settings (camera settings -> general tab -> export)
  • A screenshot of the Camera settings -> General tab
  • Put the camera on the WAN for remote testing.
Stay tuned to the same Bat Channel!

You hear anything back from bI on this Looney?
UPdate!
This appears to have been the culprit.
If you have disabled "Pre-Trigger Video Buffer" on the Record TAB in camera settings, this caused the audio on that camera to stop being recorded.
I had only did this on one camera, about three weeks prior to problem coming up. Weird.
In my case, I had only did this on one cam but it caused problems with the audio not recording on all the other 12 cameras from time to time.
As soon as I enabled Pre-Trigger Video Buffer, the offending camera started recording Audio.

This was tried from a suggestion from Sam at BI support, I have reported my results, but have not heard back any further as yet.

Ooo I'm excited to try! Thanks for the update

What do you have yours set to? I disabled it a long time because since I record 24/7
