One camera only works when the other one is removed

Hey guys,

I got an issue with a setup I'm doing and I would appreciate any help.

The hardware I'm using is:
1x NVR: DS-7108NI-Q1/8P/MC
6x IPC: DS-2CD2043G2-IU28
Cameras connected directly to POE of the NVR.
Cameras connected in Plug-And-Play mode.

Activating and connecting first 5 IPCs went down fast and smooth. My issue started when I connected last one:
-As soon as #6 got plugged in, #3 dropped connection.
-After unplugging #3 and pluggin it back in, #6 dropped
-After unplugging #6 and plugging it back in, #3 dropped, and so on...

This only happen to cameras 3 and 6. All other ones worked without any problems.

Things I tried but failed miserably:

• connecting the culprits to other POE ports of the NVR.
• setting static IPs through SADP and connecting in manual mode.
• setting DHCP through SADP and connecting 3 and 6 in manual mode.
• IPC firmware update
• NVR firmware update

At this point I'm out of ideas, all blank. Any input will be appreciated.

That is the value series NVR and is only rated at 60Mbps incoming bandwidth, so you are overloading the capacity of the NVR.

You need to drop FPS and bitrate way down and maybe even resolution to get under the 60Mbps bottleneck.

To prove this, drop the MP resolution down and go to like 5FPS and 800 bitrate and all the cameras will work.

Then you simply increase it until one doesn't show.

Okay, thank you. That makes sense and I will try it first thing in the morning.

But still, it bothers the nerd in me: why only these specific cameras get dropped by each other ? Why isn't #1 or #2 dropping when connecting #3 or #6 ? It's always these two.

Probably just the way the circuitry is lined up.

Any chance their IP addresses have somehow ended up the same? I had that happen to my NVR after a firmware upgrade, it was working fine before the upgrade. You can unplug one working camera from the NVR ports and then run SADP on the remaining cameras via that port.

I don't think so. Plugging cameras into my test switch showed them with different IPs. I even logged them in via browser si IPs should be fine.

I didnt had enough time to test @wittaj 's theory In the weekend but I will later today.

Double check the MAC address of the cameras are different.

They always should be, but I'd check anyway.

Don't go by what's on the label/box.
