This is what I observed with flashing IRs on HFW3200C including band aid fix:

Removed camera to work bench. Reconnected to POE switch and observed flashing IRs when lights were turned down. Noticed flashing rate changed in relation to ambient (now dim) lighting. Unscrewed glass end cap, flashing immediately stopped. Was able to re-start flashing by holding a white envelope ~6-8" in front of now exposed camera and IR set. Flash rate changed depending on how I held envelope. Decided these observations were not consistant with some sort of short circuit as some have speculated. Observations were consistant with circuitry of light sensor U1 being improperly affected by illuminated IR string. Could be due to aging of components. Likely involves near complete loss of hysteresis. Dahua engineering should have analyzed this by now. My band aid fixed for this is to place a small shield around U1 light sensor. Made one out of the cut-off end of a 14 ga. crimpable butt splice. Tough plastic, cut with X-acto. Glued it on pcb (around U1) with contact cement. Used tooth pick to transfer/apply cement. So far this shielding of U1 has stopped the flashing IRs on my HFW3200C. There was actually no need to dismount the camera.

The last one I hadn't taped up just started the blinking this week, so I'll give your fix a shot. If it works, it's much more elegant than mine (even though the 5 taped up ones still don't blink and it's been 2 months).

Just to report back after 3 weeks. No issue with blinking after adding the tape.

Hello everyone. I have 16 IPC-HFW3200C bought Nov 2012. 13 of them are installed, 9 of them have the blinking IR problem, and 4 unaffected. I still have 3 of them totally unused in their boxes. I will start troubleshooting by swapping the IR board from a toubled one with a new one and i will report back. Any other suggestions for testing or troubleshooting, please write here.

Hello, just want to say thanks for solution. Small ring around U1 sensor solved IR blinking problem to me too. This is how it looks:

I have two of the HFW-3300C with the same issue. I will try the shroud around the U1 sensor to see if that works. Thanks all for the insight, I've been looking for a fix for sometime. Don't know if it was just coincidence but this behavior didn't start happening until after I had upgraded the camera firmware. I have 6 of these with only two having the issue, one has a slight flicker and another a severe flashing. All cameras have the same firmware though.

The shroud was the ultimate solution for me, too. I took half a pinball post rubber and it worked fine. Haven't had a problem with the blinking on any camera since I did it. I doubt the firmware update had anything to do with it. They seem to have the issue as they age.

I ended up using the inside of some spar ear buds. We'll see tonight if it fixed the issue for me.

It's a shame these cameras have this issue, I have been very happy with them otherwise

Well, those damn cameras have been flashing for over a year and this simple thing fixed them. Thanks!
