Looking for suggestions on a wireless PTZ.

Able to be used with a Gen IV recorder.

Will be using it inside. Will not be able to mount it, so something that can sit on a shelf or counter would be great.

Thanks

Apologies @fenderman for mentioning these cameras ;) but If you are looking for a cheap Wireless PTZ then take a look at these http://www.foscam.com/product/2.html

Picture quality is OK, it all depends what you need it for and what you are trying to capture. But do you research on their forums. I do have one of these (Freebie) and for what I use it for never had a problem with it, but I’m sure many others have had issues as they’re renowned in the IP Cams world as troublesome.
@fenderman and again apologies for using bad language ;)

Your best bet is to pick out a wired PTZ, give it local power and plug it into a wifi bridge. I'm not sure your level of quality, but Foscam does not reach my level.

Thanks for the comments, I'll look into the wired PTZ option.

I don't think the problem is so much "Foscam" as it is "Foscam users". People who install these things all over their house and connect them all back with wifi to the ten year old router provided by their ISP. I've tried other inexpensive PTZ cams from Trendnet too and they have the same sorts of problems.

Dont forget to determine whether you need ptz at all. Its mostly a gimmick (for 99% of applications) unless you plan on sitting there panning the camera all day. You are better off getting a 2mp fixed camera with wide angle lens so you cover the entire area 24/7.

Thanks for the comment as well.

Trying to cover a house for sale that's over 5000 square feet inside and two story. Currently no one lives in it and no furnishings.

Unable to run wires or mount anything.

I guess I could just saturate the areas with lots of fixed cameras...but to keep coat down...a few PTZ cameras should do the trick.

Came across this one...

Thoughts?

Are you using the cameras for security or some other purpose? if so you are better of with fixed and wide angle vs ptz and narrow...this way you will have full coverage 24/7...the ptz is pretty much useless unless you are watching and panning while something is happening. For the price of that ptz, you can have almost 3 hikvision 2mp cube cameras with a 2.8mm wide angle lens.

Yes, for security.

It's a rural area, would take police an hour or more to get there, if not already in the area.

I already have a few of the hikvision rebranded 3mp box cameras.

Maybe I'll just deploy a few more of those.

Note that the cubes have pir sensor that can help you avoid false alerts.

The DS-2DE2202I-DE3/W WIFI PTZ with only a 2x zoom may be way overkill, however the size of this monster would scare the bejeszzus out of me if I were a robber and it starting panning on my movement.

Maybe even go bigger with a HuiSun 20x

A few Hik 2332's at 2.8mm would be most practical, but not as fun :)

The camera has to be wireless, & I can not run wires or mount anything inside or outside.

Try wired ptz. or if it's necessary for you to be wireless, set it on bridge.
you can try sd29404s-gn, it's a small dahua ptz, 4X (max lens 12 mm). it's 2mp and has a really good clear picture. i installed 2 last week and my clients were really happy with it. the camera is indoor only. also you can get it for a good price if you know where to buy.

I found it...

Looks like they make a wireless version of that model as well.

Care to share your source for purchase?
