New Dahua 180 Degree Camera Arrived

Pleased with the overall performance of the new Dahua 180 degree camera from Andy. Setup in a temporary location for testing.

This camera has B/W but no IR. In my case not an issue. It also may be possible to use the same settings for both day and night color. Thus no need for day/night switching.

This night image is using a manual shutter at 0 to 8 ms. Will see how it performs in daytime use for that range.

The yard light is a 15 watt 4000 K (same color temperature as the street light) outdoor 12 volt landscape lamp that is mounted on the side of the house in place of ground mounted. i.e. the camera is mounted on the same wall and close to the lamp. The lamp is powered using an old computer power supply (12 VDC @ 18 amps).

There is some bending on the fence line which is expected with a 180 degree system. Much better than expected IMO.

Did not notice any splicing issues and kept the factory default splicing settings.

Andy calls it the IPC-Color4K-B180.

Dahua calls it the DH-IPC-PFW5849-A180-E2-ASTE.

Price around $320 USD.

Today relocated the new Dahua 180 bullet camera. Moved three feet to image left and down to 8 feet above the ground.

The late afternoon image details more of the yard. Not interested in traffic only in folks that would desire to enter the yard. The green space near the sidewalk is prime doggie sniffing and potty territory. It is encouraging that many do perform potty pickup after their pets.



With the lower camera position, the bend in the fence line is somewhat reduced. Still no sign of issues of image splicing.

The question was asked as how the 180 degree camera displays in BI. The next image with the 180 camera in the upper left responds to that question. The 180 image is about 25% wider than the other camera images.



Tested the 180 camera using the BI sunrise/sunset utility and the camera will not accept the commands. The only other alternative is to utilize the camera's built in schedule to change from day to night and night to day operations.

It would be interesting to know why Dahua removed the HTTP API calls to externally change operations based on local sunrise/sunset times as it killed the well liked BI utility for this camera. Restoring this would be a nice feature to include in a new FW update.

In my case, entering a schedule that would keep up with the sun is a daunting task. In many parts of the year the change of daytime or nighttime can vary as much as 40 minutes per week.

The 180 camera uses the new Web 5 blue interface. Others have pointed out a number of issues with the new way of doing things. Agree, that these items need to be fixed. Overall, it is harder to use and complicates the overall camera setup procedure.

The second image is a person walking on the path. There is some motion blur with the traffic. As stated in a previous post, traffic is not of concern, only what happens to the yard.



Note: In both images, Fence 3 is using IR black and white with a 10 watt IR lamp placed off camera. The HFW-2831 zoom camera is not optimal for night use as it uses a 1/2.7 sensor at 8 megs. The camera is mounted on the 4th post from the left side of the image at 44 inches above ground near the right side pine tree. Using an older less costly camera just in case someone brings along a baseball bat!!

There are two IR shadows, one from the street light post and the other from a tree that is parallel with the path from the off camera IR lamp. This IR shadow is only displayed in the B/W image.

The distortion is acceptable in this case. I wonder if Dahua will release a turret version of this model. As you can probably tell, I prefer turrets over the standard bullet cameras, but everyone has their preferences

Turrert will have, but size is bit bigger than the normal turret one.

Night view with snow using the new Dahua 180 degree camera. Still some fine tuning required for night use. Overall, it is performing well.

The Dahua 180 is a larger form factor camera. This is how it looks wall mounted 8 feet above ground. Two feet above the camera is a 15 watt LED lamp for additional white light (4000 K) night illumination.



The mounting box is 4 x 4 inches square and 2 inches deep.

As stated above, this is the 180 Dahua camera with the added LED 12 volt 15 watt lighting placement.

I like the camera. Keep the snow though.

@Alaska Country does the firmware allow a sub stream at 1080p?

The new Dahau 180 cam has sub stream 1 and sub stream 2. Both can be set from the listed bit rates of 256 through 2304 Kb/s. Or your own custom setting with a range of 32-16,384 Kb/s.

Thanks. Can substream 2 be set to 1080p/2mp or higher?

Both SS 1 and SS 2 have the same settings (32-16,384 Kb/s).

He isn't asking about bitrate, he is asking about resolution- like D1, 1080, 720, etc....

Appreciate the clarification.
