Blue Iris - 'Slow motion' playback and cameras going offline

Just a guess. Based on the camera brand I suspected that the video stream was not "standards" compliant in a few areas, like consistent frame and iframe rates. That confuses the heck out of processing, probably causing loops, which would explain dropouts, tears, high CPU utilization and so on.

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

The sunrise/sunset app still works very well. Given the newer cameras, from the 5231 and now the 5442, they work well in low light so if it gets dark early they still see well. Not much of a problem at all.

    US Presidential Election 2020 (& Politics) :)

Something that occurs to me, is that the fraud was two pronged, massive and small. Massive amounts of votes appeared "magically", during the overnight hours of 11-3 to 11-4. Small time fraud was also taking place in various locations and that fraud all seems to follow the same, basic, pattern...

Change the codec to H254. Match the iframe rate to the frame rate, IE 15/15.

    US Presidential Election 2020 (& Politics) :)

There are multiple reports from postal workers, subcontract drivers specifically, of truckloads of mail-in ballots being shipped from one state to another. What's that all about? Why would a mail-in ballot from PA end up in Ohio or vice versa? Mail-in ballots would seem to be, for someone...

    Transparent video

What's your exposure setting? To get motion without blurring (ghosting) you need 1/60 or 1/100. Auto just won't work at night especially. It's a balancing act if IR, brightness, contrast, gamma, back lighting and noise reduction along with exposure.

5.2.8 - May 20, 2020 - Direct-to-disc BVR recording will now include metadata for video overlays

My point is that the defense attorney might argue, successfully, that you are modifying the video stream.

    Home CCTV advice

:welcome: Mounting the cameras at 3.5m will give you wonderful shots of the top of heads and nothing usable for identification purposes. At most a camera should be no higher than 2m with, maybe 2.5m being acceptable. I have yet to hear of a camera being damaged by a vandal on this forum...

Sorting Out How to Fix This Network

If pulling a cable is a real PITA, consider using a wireless bridge like the Nano Loco M5.

5.2.8 - May 20, 2020 - Direct-to-disc BVR recording will now include metadata for video overlays

Yes. The reason being that the evidence, the recording, is modified AFTER it leaves the camera rather than being directly written as data. If it is modified in that way, it can be modified in other ways. In short it is not a direct representation of what comes from the camera. Lawyers get...

5.2.8 - May 20, 2020 - Direct-to-disc BVR recording will now include metadata for video overlays

Blue Iris does not sync anything time related. All it does is place a display, based on the PC clock, on each camera and is not syncing the internal clock in the cameras in any way. If you want to actually sync the cameras the only way to do that is to use a time server, set and use the time...

Live view - Camera time overlay - time out by 5 - 10 seconds

If you are actually supplying evidence, the BVR files must also be included, hence the camera time stamp since adding the time stamp to the video after it leaves the camera is altering the original video file. This may seem like spitting hairs but attorneys get rich on stuff like this, details...

    IP bullet cam

That's a significant difference. The 8MP only gets half of the light per pixel on the sensor as the 4MP which is quite significant.

Planning to buy NVR any suggestion and brand

A PC can easily be set to auto start on power up, auto login and if BI is running as a service it starts recording all by itself. Actually, if BI is running as a service there's no need for an auto login. Auto start on power up for the PC is in the BIOS of the PC itself.

Switch for non-conditioned/non-insulated detached MN garage

As an insurance policy, of sorts, maybe look into a weather tight enclosure, but make sure it's vented on the bottom. Don't forget dielectric grease on the connectors, RJs, too.

Switch for non-conditioned/non-insulated detached MN garage

I'm using a cheap. four port, Netgear out in an unconditioned shed with a leaky roof and the leak is close to the switch. It's been out there for over three years with no problems. Temperature range of say 0F to 110F outside temps. As with everything, YMMV.

I traveled, a lot, back in the 80's but only the States and Territories. Nicest place was Guam, not on related to military travel, but the beach on the AFB was right out of Blue Lagoon. Still appreciated getting back to the mainland though. You don't really know or appreciate what we have...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Many people are being test because it is required of them. Example, college students that want to visit for the Holidays, employees of many companies are required to get tested. It is certainly not just "people who feel sick".
