Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

Never seen any other software make non-renewing licenses more expensive.

Anyone interested in running Blue Iris with 14 cameras on an i3 at 25% CPU usage?

Yes, I do. What is your experience generally with playback CPU usage? Just wanted to know if this is normal or not.

Anyone interested in running Blue Iris with 14 cameras on an i3 at 25% CPU usage?

I’m only playing back one camera at a time. Goes from 30% at idle to 85% to 95% when playing back a single 4MP camera at 4x. Seems strange.

    H.265 or H.264

That’s what I suspected for him too; H265 acceleration confirmed not working here too. BI also fails to detect that HW acceleration is failing, and exhibits the same stop and go behavior you reported.

    H.265 or H.264

Is H265 hardware accelerated decoding working in BI 5? I think it’s been over a year since the update that promised the HW acceleration support came out, hoping it’ll finally actually work in version 5.

Anyone interested in running Blue Iris with 14 cameras on an i3 at 25% CPU usage?

The high performance mode! The i5 is i5 6600. The FPS is 15fps for each camera, at 4 MP.

Anyone interested in running Blue Iris with 14 cameras on an i3 at 25% CPU usage?

After turning this on, I'm getting a good 20% idle on i5 with 3 4MP cameras with hardware acceleration on, but playback makes it jump to like 80% to 90% at 4x playback speed. HW acceleration is on for BVR too. Any ideas?

Issue with multiple Reolink cameras and BI causing image corruption/smearing

True. I’ve read the threads now. Funny thing is it was working before, but I switched servers and now won’t work. Just wondering about some mitigating settings to get rid of stuff like dropouts, image tearing, and delayed video suddenly catching up and skipping 10 seconds of footage.

Issue with multiple Reolink cameras and BI causing image corruption/smearing

I'm getting this problem in 2019 with the newest Reolink cameras still. Both of them. I don't know what to do.

Can Blue Iris do Intel (QuickSync) hardware accelerated ENcoding?

Would also like an answer to this. The Encoder options window only has an Nvidia checkbox for HW acceleration, but no Intel.

    Blue Iris UI3

I'm actually getting sent to the login page (when trying to access the bare URL, or the bare URL + /ui3.html). It doesn't do this when accessing it by the local IP. Only when accessing by the domain name (that goes to the reverse proxy). In the BI Options → Web Server, the only interface in the...

    Blue Iris UI3

When I use a reverse proxy, UI3 still asks for authentication even though I have the authentication requirement to be "Non-LAN only". I enabled the "Use X-Forwarded-For headers" option and I can see from the Connections status tab that the IP and Hostname are in the LAN (they are my router's...

    Looks very inspired by UI3 @bp2008. :)

    Blue Iris in docker working

Lots of dinosaurs here including fenderman (taking everything personally and kind of OCD about the whole thing) who won’t change their ways despite how the winds are blowing. Self-hosted containerized applications are the new thing. BI is currently the tool of choice for self-hosters, but its...

    Blue Iris in docker working

Just because something works fine doesn’t mean it’s the best or most efficient way to make it work. You could run BI as the sole application on a NASA supercomputer, and it would work great. Doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid idea.
  16. M

    Blue Iris in docker working

Only a fool would run an entire computer for Blue Iris. That’s what NVRs are for. If his customer base is grandmothers who want to do that like it’s 2005, they’d get an NVR, not BI. So that’s not his customer base. If his customer base is people who want to do other things with their machines...

    Blue Iris in docker working

Nah, Windows is terrible and bloated. This is 2019, and no one’s dedicating an entire PC to Blue Iris and Windows bare metal because it’s a waste of computation and power. The industry is moving (has already moved, really) to containerization (now Docker, before LXC, and even before, VMs) under...

    Blue Iris in docker working

Very cool. Tired of running the trash heap that is Windows. Moved from bare metal Windows to Linux + Windows VM, but I’d like to get rid of the VM too. Every other service is in Docker containers.

Blue Iris Version 5 is right around the corner!

Wish v5 would move to Linux-based instead of staying on Windows. Everything else runs neatly in Docker containers, and then BI comes along... VM’s fine for now, but the overhead that Windows adds with all of its “features” isn’t nice for performance.

    4.8.4.7- January 15, 2019 - Support for zero-width macros

Looks like that only backs up the BI general settings, not the camera settings.

How did you set camera settings to auto export?

    Unable to update?

Yes. The recent updates crippled this feature. So you won’t be able to do that again.

Free lunch? We paid $60 for this program.

    Blue Iris UI3

I just tried it too, and it just converted the BVR file into an AVI... and replaced the original. Not exactly desirable behavior. Weird! Thank you.

    Blue Iris UI3

In the mobile app, if you long press on a clip, you have the options to "Flag", "Export", and so on. The Export button marks the clip for exporting, which exports the clip to the destination set in the console settings. It's does the same "Export" thing that right clicking a clip in the local...

Does UI3 have a way to Export clips in the background like the mobile app? As in using the default server exporting instead of to the viewing device.

    Trippy lines on IP camera?

Thank you for the tips Aengus4h, though I just tried all those at various settings, and still get the same results. The camera worked indoors well (although I did notice these same lines occasionally on small objects in the picture) but doesn't seem to deliver even a passable image outdoors...

    Trippy lines on IP camera?

It's not in the shadow during the day, just not in direct sunlight all the time, but there doesn't seem to be any variance over the day. Every now then, I'll get single occasional frames that are free of the lines and look normal, then it goes right back to the lines. I'll try it! I've tried...
