It comes down to focal length - the ZE is a varifocal up to 13mm whereas the Z4E is a 32mm varifocal. Here are my general distance and camera recommendations, but switch out the Dahua 5442 series camera to the equivalent 2MP on the 1/2.8" sensor or equivalent Hikvision works as well. These...

Dahua best cam 2021? (Now 2023!)

None of us here go by that illumination distance as that is under BEST CASE situation with a wide open slow shutter than nobody would ever run their camera at. The bullet has 4 IR lights and the turret has 2 IR lights. So you have to go with what your individual lighting situation is to...

    2023 EmpireTech Memorial Day Sales

I am somehow under the asumption that some of the technical differences (specs) between bullet and turret version are from the extra space the optic gets in a bullt cam.

    2023 EmpireTech Memorial Day Sales

...what it is about the turret cams but I just find they arent as flexible as a bullet cam. The wire coming off the "eyeball" of my IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 cameras is a pain. The camera is still nice but I don't get quite as good of a picture for some reason. With a bullet cam I can easily move it...

    Recommended or current popular cameras

Apart from 5442 series I also like the T5449H-ASE-D2. It gives nice ability to see color, but also to fill the picture with IR and avoid the need to use white light. The downside is the sort of short sharp area in the picture (see review to see, if it fits your needs).

hello, I'm new, what is "ANGLE" in the DORI calculation

This is extremely helpful. I have been trying to figure out what cameras to get for the various areas I want coverage, between detection/observation cameras, and then identify cameras for the areas that need them. The list with the details and use case scenarios was exactly what I was looking...

hello, I'm new, what is "ANGLE" in the DORI calculation

Keep in mind that DORI is under ideal, perfect scenarios with no motion and night is with the shutter slowed way down. Real word DORI will be nowhere near those numbers. With movement, we have seen you probably have to cut the numbers in at least half, and then at night cut that daytime...

...camera cannot read plates at 60 feet away LOL - yeah a great camera used in the wrong application results in poor performance), the IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 is very much a niche camera that works well in certain situations. I think the dual lens camera works well in the following conditions: An...

    IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 Question

...in the middle. If I did that, I could use 2 of the 6.0mm 5442's and a 3.6mm 5442. When looking over the sale list, I saw the IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2. The (world's first) review seems to indicate it's a pretty good camera with a good color/b&w mix. From the thread, it seems from the thread there...

IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 - Resource is limited, open video failed

I purchased the several cams including the IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 for black friday. After initialing the camera, on the main screen I see "Main Stream", "Substream 1" and "Substream 2". Installed the IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 at a temporary location to check the FOV at 3.6mm. That some location has two other existing Dahua cameras using IR and B/W for night viewing. One side of the porch is illuminated with 3000K white light. The other side is basically dark. It is interesting that...

Would dual-lens be suitable for this scene?

How does that 5849 camera do with just ambient lighting. I have a 27’ driveway with a streetlight 59’ from my garage door. I have 2 barn lights on my garage doors with 60w incandescent bulbs that are typically off just to save on energy. But the street light is always on which is a sodium bulb.

Would dual-lens be suitable for this scene?

This is a comparison of the Dahua 5849 (HFW5849T1-ASE-LED) 3.6mm bullet (Driveway in color) and Dahua 5449 (IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2 ) 3.6mm turret (IPC in B/W). Illumination from a 15 watt white (3000K) flood low voltage lamp off to the side of the cameras. No IR or white light LEDs on in either...

    Another reolink headache

We have all been there buying cheap stuff LOL. Now that I have learned at my own expense, I have realized that OPTICAL zoom is much more important than MP. All of my examples above are from my 2MP cameras! I started with the big box store kit that had four 2.8mm cameras and I was like "I...

That is obvious that the 5442 is better than the Reolink LOL. Many here will choose the varifocal because you may decide you want more zoom or as you buy replacement cameras, the varifocal has a better chance of being able to be used somewhere else. Here are my general distance...
