Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

FYI FWIW that I tried the script and it worked great once I installed the required software/modules on my CentOS box - thanks for the quick confirmation test!

    Dahua Color 4K-X in-depth review

Thanks for the info @wopi82 and I don't mean to hijack your (excellent) camera review thread, but you got me looking around and I found this Sony page that shows their various security sensors with links for more info - I'm sure you already know about it. That IMX482 appears to actually be a...

    Dahua Color 4K-X in-depth review

GREAT review @wopi82 - as a Canon shooter, I especially appreciate that comparison and your using the exposure triangle to make apples-to-apples comparisons. That IMX585 sounds pretty impressive and the "70% better NiR quantum efficiency – at 850nm" should make for even cleaner B&W imaging, but...

Anybody tested the first vari-focal Hikvision ColorVu's: DS-2CD2747G2-LZS (Dome) and DS-2CD2647G2-LZS (Bullet)

I saw that Hikvision has added their first vari-focal ColorVu cameras - DS-2CD2747G2-LZS (dome) and DS-2CD2647G2-LZS (Bullet) - curious if anyone has tested them yet? These are F/1.0 lens and 1/1.8" sensor with 2,688x1,520 resolution ... so should be pretty decent in low light. But I think...

Funky problem upgrading firmware on DS-2CD5526G0-IZHS

So an update on this thread from a while ago. Recall that the problem is I have a fairly early model Hikvision DS-2CD5526G0-IZHS that routinely "took" firmware upgrades to 5.5.91 ... but then would not take 5.6.0 ... or 5.6.10 ... or 5.6.12. Just for grins, I tried downloading them again from...

Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

Thanks @watchful_ip ... although I was surprised that Hikvision has recent firmware for that G1 - link to European Portal (and release notes there show it applies to the 2735). Another camera I have is the 5526G0 ... which I believe (?) is in the H3 family. That also appears NOT to be affected...

Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

Wooooo ... as a network/security admin in a previous life, this is some serious sh*t ... That is an EXCELLENT report @watchful_ip - well done ... and the community (and hopefully Hikvision) thanks you. It's a bit confusing trying to figure out exactly what models/firmware is affected. For...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

I agree that powering the camera via the 12VDC would be plug-n-play ... but it would equally be so if one were using a splitter like @tigerwillow1 mentioned ... that actually does pass power (and data of course) through the Ethernet cable. However, the Anvision does NOT ... so that's the answer...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Actually, because the microphone has a pass-thru 12V, I don't even need a 12V splitter if I use that very viable solution of using that to power the camera. The two questions I'm trying to answer are: 1. Does the ANvision "remove" power from the Ethernet and only pass thru data? I'm pretty sure...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Ummmm ... I'm probably not explaining this well - sorry about the confusion. First, the Hikvision certainly has 12VDC in to power it which can be used to power the camera. My current setup is PoE injector to Ethernet cable which plugs into the Hikvision - provides BOTH data and power. And I...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

First, I'm super-appreciative of everyone chiming in ... thanks a bunch! Yep - I realize since that microphone has a 12V pass-thru, I don't need to further split. And sure, I could use that 12V pass-thru to power the camera, but now I'd have to add another cable into the camera itself- I was...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Ahhhhhh ... so I am being a numbskull! ;-) All this time I thought the the Ethernet cable to the camera would carry BOTH data and PoE ... but that is NOT the case ... as only data is carried there ... and only the 12V splitter has power. Well that's a bummer ... since I think it's easiest...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Yea, that would be awesome. I agree it seems pretty darn straightforward. I.e. Just take the existing PoE cable from the powered injector/switch and plug it into the female end of the splitter. Then plug the camera into the male end ... and use the 12v pigtail to power the microphone. Heck...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Yea, duly noted those don't look too weatherproof plus they are much bigger ... which is why I ordered the Anvision ones ... which appear to be a bit more weather resistant. I'm just puzzled why @icpilot posted here that he is using the exact same Anvision splitter and reports that "The Anvision...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Thanks for the great info @Teken ... and assuming I want a 12V output, it looks like the model number is PS5712TG which is on Amazon. BTW, if I zoom in on the ethernet cable, it's not clear if all 8 pins are wired (?) But if you say these ROCK, that good enough for me and I can give it a shot.

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

Good question @Left Coast Geek and I should have said that in my initial post. The PoE switch is an SW502 that is 10/100 - NOT GigE ... so yea, should NOT require all 4 pairs ...

PoE Splitter/Adapter of choice to power IR illuminator?

This looks like "about" the best thread to ask this question as I too am trying to power an IP Camera (Hikvision 2735) and external device (microphone) from a single Ethernet run. For testing purposes, I have the camera on a very short cable run to a PoE device - works fine. And the microphone...

Any specific tips for successfully capturing Motorcycle License Plates?

Summary update is that setting Plate Mode to SMALL did not appear to make any difference ... but I could not "see" any downside, so I'm going to leave it as-is. A reminder that motorcycles are very rare in our neighborhood, but I happened to see a motorcycle drive by my house the afternoon of...

Hilarious License Plate Capture - "DOGPOOP"

The Hikvision LPR software will sometimes do "duplicates" - i.e. the same vehicle will get multiple (slightly different) hits, especially if there is lots of writing on it. The first image shows it correctly got 474ZMA (82.4% validity) for this truck ... but then it picked up some lettering and...

Any specific tips for successfully capturing Motorcycle License Plates?

So I switched Plate Mode from Large to Small ... and based on historical data, I don't think I'm missing any plates. In fact, the numbers are slightly higher, but I think due to slightly more duplicates - i.e. the same vehicle with different variations of plate alphanumerics - funny "DOGPOOP"...

Any specific tips for successfully capturing Motorcycle License Plates?

I agree at the end of the day, I'll just have to try/test it. But I was hoping to understand what the pro/cons are of Large/Small. I just posted in the Hikvision forum (since this is a vendor specific question) with pointer to this thread in case any of the experts over there can chime in.

Hikvision LPR "Plate Mode" - pros/cons of Large/Small

Just an FYI for the Hikvision experts in this forum that I posted a question about the "Plate Mode" settings in the LPR Forum - basically asking if anyone has any experience/recommendations about the pros/cons of setting this to Large or Small. Please respond over there.

Any specific tips for successfully capturing Motorcycle License Plates?

@wittaj : I hear 'ya on even tighter zoom since LPR is for LPR and that we COULD have another camera to see which direction the car turns. But with the current setup, there are plenty of pixels on target (see image below) and it's nice to get a "two'fer" in the same video. We are running at...

Any specific tips for successfully capturing Motorcycle License Plates?

[Note: Some Hikvision specific questions, but I thought the LPR forum might be better to post in] Summary: I've been using a couple of LPR camera's to successfully capture license plates in our neighborhood for several months. As part of that, I did a fair amount of stress testing at our two...

Funky problem upgrading firmware on DS-2CD5526G0-IZHS

I appreciate the reply @wittaj and yea, I hear 'ya on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ... but there are a couple of things in the 5.6.0 that I'd like to have ... so I was hoping maybe someone else stumbled across this problem. BTW, I'm kinda surprised there aren't more threads about the...

Funky problem upgrading firmware on DS-2CD5526G0-IZHS

Long-time lurker posting for the first time ... hoping someone will have a suggestion about a funky problem upgrading the firmware on a DS-2CD5526G0-IZHS. I've chatted with the Hikvision Tech Support folks, but their solution is to send it back for repair and I'd rather not have the...
