    Blue Iris UI3

I noticed that the other day. More likely, it just means that person was assigned to deal with the issue, whichever way it goes. I really don't think Google cares to accommodate us wackos who try to host our own web servers separate from the global internet. I'd be happy to be proven wrong...

interface lagging after updating to 5.5.3.4

To use sub streams, "direct to disc" recording must be enabled for the camera. Some of your cams have higher sub stream bit rate than main stream bit rate which means your configuration could use some work. The keyframe interval on a lot of the cameras is also rather slow, and your frame rates...

Here is a guide I wrote for sub streams.

    Version 5 bug?

Most of us only use RTSP video sources. You may have found a bug. If you report it to Blue Iris support, be sure to include a screenshot of your network IP camera configuration panel in BI, along with a screenshot of the relevant motion detector settings.

interface lagging after updating to 5.5.3.4

Try using the pause button in the upper right corner of the live video player, see if that makes menus respond properly, and note the effect on CPU usage. Could be that your video playback is super inefficient for some other reason. Perhaps a buggy graphics driver where the bug did not affect...

interface lagging after updating to 5.5.3.4

There are a few situations I can think of that have made the BI interface laggy for me. None are likely to apply to you. 1. Remotely accessing the PC while large amounts of screen is video playing in the Blue Iris window (there's a pause button in the upper right corner of the live video...

interface lagging after updating to 5.5.3.4

I don't know what new change would have done it. One thing to check is the Blue Iris Settings > Other tab. Make sure Scaling is set to "Fast". Another thing, Blue Iris Settings > Cameras tab. Make sure "Limit live preview rate" is either disabled or set to a high fps (like 15 or higher).

    Version 5 bug?

I certainly can't solve all your problems, but check which motion sensor algorithm you are using. I think that "Simple" algorithm is still the most reliable.

Looking for powerful BI server hardware

Reminds me of a server I saw the other day on ubiquiti's web store with a comically underpowered pair of Xeon CPUs in it that are evidently locked at 1.9 GHz so they perform like something from 12 years ago. So I really do recommend checking CPU benchmark scores to make sure you aren't buying a...

Looking for powerful BI server hardware

Basically any modern Intel or AMD server will be able to handle 19 cameras if you optimize the configuration for reduced CPU usage (use sub streams with all the cameras). If you don't use sub streams, you could max out the best server with 10 cams or less (4K cams at 30 FPS). Just pick...

[Safire) Color spots during live view and cameras leaking during motion

I really have no idea if his H.264+ is on or off. The first thing I would do is test with a wired device, taking wifi completely out of the data path.

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

Now I'm reading about the Brocade ICX 6450-48P, but apparently it is 52 watts with nothing connected. The guy who posted that said he'd edit his post with more information once he got things plugged in, but of course he forgot to do so.

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

That sounds really good. The backbone of my network is a Mikrotik with 24x gigabit ports and 2x SFP+ (10 GbE), and no PoE. It cost around $135. Then a separate 4 port SFP+ switch for another $135 or so. And of course I had to add a separate small PoE switch for the access point and 1 camera...

    Youtube - H264 Live Stream - Options ?

    Youtube - H264 Live Stream - Options ?

Reducing the bit rate limit is the solution, unless you want higher bit rate stored locally. If reduced bit rate makes it look bad, then reducing the frame rate and increasing the i-frame interval can improve the appearance. Lower resolution would also improve it but that is something you...

Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

I am running a cam with firmware from 2021-07-09 and its API for setting sunrise and sunset is working fine. I am not using the DahuaSunriseSunset service. Instead I am having Blue Iris send the http requests using its own scheduler. It is a little hacky to set up in Blue Iris because you...

I need advice if one CPU is really better than the other for BI.

Note you can only run BI patches that are older than your support expiration date. This can be an issue if you want to fresh install on a system after your support has expired (in that case you need to find the installer you used originally). In theory the i7-7700 would appear to use less CPU...

I need advice if one CPU is really better than the other for BI.

i7-7700 CPU Mark: 8619 i5-8500 CPU Mark: 9612 Given the choice between those two, I would pick the i5-8500. To copy settings, go to Blue Iris Settings > About tab > Export settings. Then make sure you have your license key saved somewhere and click Deactivate so you will be able to activate...

EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-X is an amazing weather cam

Creating a timelapse can be a bit frustrating without the right software. I had Blue Iris upload a jpeg snapshot every 10 minutes to an FTP server. Then I had to write a small script to rename all the files like this, named with a 6 digit incrementing number. ... Then I had ffmpeg produce a...

    HDMI extension

I got the 120 meter version of that blackbird extender for $120 back in September from this listing. It has been feeding a 4k 60hz (4:4:4 chroma) signal over cat5e from my BI server to a TV in my office. It has been perhaps 98% reliable... I put the monitor to sleep many times daily and only...

What I'm saying is the local overrides file is not normally necessary. Something is unusual about your browser configuration if the settings (including choice of H.264 player) are not sticking between sessions.

EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-X is an amazing weather cam

I recently purchased an EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-X with a 2.8mm lens from @EMPIRETECANDY. This model is also known as Dahua DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED. I installed it not as a security cam, but as a weather cam. The high resolution and large sensor make for great captures both day and night. The...
