Video Tearing in Recorded Files in BI5 and Push to Talk Issues with Blue Iris App (Android)

If your CPU is too new to use the ONE driver listed in the wiki that does not have issues, you're out of luck. Just turn off intel quick sync, report the issue to support and maybe at some point in the future this defect might be mitigated or fixed.

    Hardware acceleration cuts out intermittently

@SouthernYankee Windows home server 2011 is basically Windows XP as you probably know. I would not be surprised if the drivers just don't support the GPU offload that well.

    Xeon CPu for B.I.

Not necessarily. I've been running BI on my Xeon servers for almost ten years. Just like anything else BI related you need to understand what you're purchasing and why. My BI install runs alongside other Windows functions that require ECC memory for long term stability of the data. So its a...

New Dahua camera has 30s delay on Blue Iris

@Dseg42 I too have had trouble with Dahua cams becoming delayed (sometimes over 2-3 mins) in BlueIris. I believe I have solved this but it requires two changes 1) Use H264 and not H265 on the Dahua camera 2) Change the “Receive Buffer” in BI to 1MB or less for the Dahua cams. I have never had...

    Server 2016 and QuickSync

Hey @rhui_BC, welcome. I run BlueIris on Server 2016, but not as a service. Yes, you do need to have the CPU and drivers to support quick sync, but its works just fine. Just use Windows 10 drivers.

    Dahua HFW-1831E in-depth review

@wopi82 Just to clarify, does this mean you think that the 102 or the 87 FOV is the correct number?

    Dahua HFW-1831E in-depth review

Thanks for the review @wopi82. One small constructive criticism though when doing your review, can you make sure that the primary camera you're reviewing stays on either the left or right in both the stills and videos? I kept having to look at the headers to determine which camera was which...

KB4056892 and Blue Iris - be prepared for higher CPU usage

All, please keep in mind that just having this MS patch does not fully protect you from these issues. You will need to install the CPU microcode update as well, this will come from your motherboard vendor in the form of a BIOS update. The reports I'm seeing are showing that with the MS patch...

KB4056892 and Blue Iris - be prepared for higher CPU usage

Microsoft released KB4056892 on January 3, 2018 to address the Meltdown and Spectre CPU issues. This fix basically removes speculative execution from the CPU and made some major changes to the OS. Kernel calls just became more expensive for all applications, especially applications that use a...

Effectiveness of footage leading to actual arrests, or any other camera sstories?

I do live in a safe and quiet neighborhood, but you just don't know what's going on unless you're watching. The following video was shot 1 week after I installed my very first cam. The perp was caught, prosecuted and in now serving time. My son left his door unlocked that night. He never...

What's your favorite IP camera and why?

I can work with a company when their software has defects and they do try to get them fixed. That's my day job. But Foscam never went back and fixed any of those bad firmwares. You can go to their site right now and download firmware that is guaranteed to brick your cam. That's just not a...

What's your favorite IP camera and why?

I used Foscam for a while and they are ok as long as you use them as a dummy camera and don't try to do *ANYTHING* locally on the camera as you'll run into quirks and issues. And god forbid you actually update the firmware on a Foscam. More often that not you'll end up with a brick like I did...

How many cams do you have at your residence?

My son left his door unlocked that night. He never does that, but what-do-ya know the one night he does leave it unlocked someone's trying doors in the neighborhood. Obviously the neighbor left theirs unlocked as well. The perps accomplice was not apprehended since his buddy would not give him...
