    BI5 configuration

LOL - most Reolink reviews are paid reviews and even those do not show good LOL. What Reolink makes up in for static image quality (and the static image is what almost every NOOB gets fascinated with), they lack when it comes to motion at night... What you mean a missing hand isn't normal LOL...

    BI5 configuration

I am using BI and a mix of cameras. Mostly Dahua from Andy but I have some cheapo ones before I knew any better that are used for overview purposes.

We know from his other threads that his system has performance issues...and adding an 8MP to the mix won't help if the issue still persists... https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/urgent-hdd-pinging-at-100-constantly-help-please.61622/

Ring Alarm does it and I think it is $200/year, but they might have some lower options as well.

    Improving nighttime B/W recording. IPC-T5442TM-AS 2.8mm

You would be surprised how well it goes over once your camera captures the perp that stole something from a neighbor LOL. My neighbors now thank me for all my light LOL.

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

It is not worth debating with you anymore as you are missing the point and you are clearly one of the "more MP is better" fanboys and does not understand the concept of optical zoom LOL :lmao: Do you run your cameras on default/auto settings as well LOL. But to make it clear for others that...

    Improving nighttime B/W recording. IPC-T5442TM-AS 2.8mm

Many have not been impressed with the Hikvision G2s. They are not magic and do not defy physics. Many people have come here after buying the Hikvision ColorVu series expressing their disappointment in the picture quality of the camera because they were expecting magic. Further, it's onboard...

    Review-Dahua/EmpireTech new doorbell cam Db6l 5mp

To IDENTIFY at 60 feet out, there are not many options. The turret/eyeball focal lengths max out around 13.5mm and you need 32mm or more. A bullet camera or PTZ are the only options....but....they do make the Z4E in a dome camera though, but not recommended outdoor unless it is...

    Improving nighttime B/W recording. IPC-T5442TM-AS 2.8mm

Exposure Compensation is one of those what does it do LOL. Not really, but most of us don't see it do anything...why... because in manual mode exposure that most of us run, compensation exposure doesn't run; it only works in auto / shutter priority mode. It basically is another function to...

Using Intel (or any other) NUC as NVR

Wasn't there a post here not too long ago from a member trying a NUC with 2.5"HDD and the CPU kept pegging at 100%. Not sure which NUC he was using though.

    Review-Dahua/EmpireTech new doorbell cam Db6l 5mp

At 60 feet I would go with the 5442-Z4E or higher focal length. Here are my general distance recommendations, but switch out the Dahua 5442 series camera to the equivalent 2MP on the 1/2.8" sensor or equivalent Hikvision works as well. 5442 fixed lens 2.8mm or the 4K/X - anything within 10...

    NVR to rear view mirror

IP cameras have an inherent lag in them and should not be used on a vehicle for reverse or driving purposes, thus the analog connection is all you find for the rear view mirror.

Using Intel (or any other) NUC as NVR

A NUC is not designed as a 24/7 computer. The CPU will throttle when it gets hot and a whole host of other issues. We have had many posts over the years where people tried it and were having problems. Your best bet would be to find a SFF coming off a business lease and purchase the refurb.

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

What part do you not understand or follow? I said a 2MP or 3MP and an 8MP on the same 1/2.8" sensor size - the 2MP will win at night. And an 8MP on a 1/1.2" sensor will win the battle against the 2MP or 3MP on a 1/2.8" sensor. Where did I ever say different. I didn't. Do your test with a...

    Improving nighttime B/W recording. IPC-T5442TM-AS 2.8mm

Nobody is as good at getting optimal performance out of these cameras as @Wildcat_1 !!! I would max out the IR to 100 and see what it looks like then. I think you are far enough away it won't wash out, if it does then turn on Smart IR. And dialing in the picture settings is needed as well...

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

What I said is not wrong - Re-read what you quoted me from - I said 2MP on a 1/2.8" sensor will outperform a 4K/8MP on the same 1/2.8" sensor, which implies unspoken camera models where a 4K/8MP on a 1/2.8" sensor is a budget camera touting 8MP for the unsuspecting consumer chasing MP at a...

Advice needed on Geovision VS Blue Iris

Those are some incredibly fast deepstack times on that CPU! So some people have had issues where if a camera signal fails the CPU ramps up until it crashes. I suspect that is what is happening to you. I'd suggest rolling back to a stable version and set up watchdog to try to reset the camera.

    Camera upgrade.

You can use this calculator to get estimates of distances, but I wouldn't go completely by the sample resolutions they show you. It is a good tool in the toolbox, but much past 25 feet or so they will not look as good as the tool shows. The recommendations of cameras in my post above are...

@Timokreon make sure Windows didn't pull the switch on you and sneak it into Edge. Go into Explorer and delete the extensions and then login to the camera and it should give you the option to download it again.
