    Camera for License Plates

Thanks, I will check that forum. I am using BlueIris with PoE cameras so I can be flexible regarding brands.

    Camera for License Plates

I have Hikvision dome cameras around my home. They are decent cameras for the price (<$100/piece). However, no matter my settings they can't capture car license plates during night time. The cars' head/rear lights and the reflection of the license plate make the license plate numbers unreadable...

    Q-See 4k Cube

Wow, fenderman solved it in like 30 seconds. I had GPU acceleration enabled but apparently that doesn't work well with Q-See cams. I spent like hours on that... Thank you SO MUCH.

    Q-See 4k Cube

Never mind, that wasn't private. It will change anyways.

    Q-See 4k Cube

Absolutely. They have TV9 so I had to downgrade. I will send you a private message.

    Q-See 4k Cube

So another update. Late last night I was on a chat session with Q-See because I basically wanted to access the web portal to set a static IP but I wasn't able to get to the portal. They ended up getting on my computer trying to do this and failed (supposedly it should be possible) but they were...

    Cameras Not Showing Up

I just discovered why my cameras didn't show up. I have camera groups and BI was set to a particular group. Once I selected "All cameras" I starting seeing those "invisible" cameras. That setting is in the lower left of BI.

    Q-See 4k Cube

That ONVIF Device Manager is a really cool tool. Thanks! Unfortunately, I am still not able to add that camera. When I add a camera I do the following: 1) Enter a "Full name" and enter a "Short name" 2) Check "Direct to disc recording (no re-encoding)" 3) Set Address to...

    Cameras Not Showing Up

I was actually just searching the entire registry. In the program files folder I searched all files for my "Family Room" camera and it turns out blue iris makes .reg backups. So next step was the registry. After shutting down BI, deleting a half dozen cameras or so and restarting BI the CPU time...

    Cameras Not Showing Up

Good point. It wasn't checked but even after checking it the cameras still don't show up. Another thing I noticed is that the CPU time used by BI increased. I suspect that at least in my last trial of adding the camera I got the settings right and so it's recording but just not showing up. Or...

    Cameras Not Showing Up

That was fast. Thanks! I checked on the desktop and there is nothing there. No floating camera windows. I also rebooted the computer just now and the cameras don't appear. The two "Hide …" options are also still disabled.

    Cameras Not Showing Up

I tried to add a camera but my settings were incorrect. Probably because of that the camera didn't show up in the big "CAMERAS" section of BI. I have "Hide disabled cameras" and "Hide inactive cameras without video" disabled. I also toggled those two settings just for checking. How can I...

    Q-See 4k Cube

Thanks. I tried this as well selecting Q-See for the make. For model I tried both h.264 and 6036. I also tried the other Q-See/xxx options that use port 9000. None of that worked. The manual of the camera doesn't list a user name and password. The camera also doesn't seem to have a web interface...

    Q-See 4k Cube

I purchased a Q-See 4k Cube camera and tried to add it to BI. I did enter the IP address and clicked on the discover button in BI. BI seemed to recognize it. I then added the camera to BI. I didn't get any error but the camera doesn't show up in the main window along with all the other cameras...

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

Well, it actually works now. Unfortunately, I don't know what fixed it as I violated my principle of doing just one change at a time. I did upgrade to the latest version of BI but I am not confident that was the source of the issue. I also disabled the BI plugin and re-enabled it which didn't...

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

Yes, the camera shows as online.

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

I don't see anything related to BI when I filter by "Web Server". Here are some further updates. In BI under "Alerts" I know also enabled "Sound an alarm using PC or camera speakers". Indeed, when the camera is being triggered I do hear an alarm but I see no log entry in HS. It's as if "Post to...

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

From BI I am calling the HS plugin "Blue-Iris". I do this by doing a "Post to a web address or MQTT server" and setting the first line in "When triggered" to [IP]:[Port]/JSON?request=pluginfunction&function=Alert&plugin=Blue-Iris&P1=&CAM&P2=&TYPE. To exclude complexity I am not looking at any HS...

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

Well, maybe I didn't explain it well. In the camera properties there are among others the tabs "Trigger" and "Alerts". The "Trigger" tab allows you to define under what circumstances a camera triggers a motion event. What BI does with that motion event is defined in the "Alerts" tab. In my case...
  20. R

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

To add to this, note that I have BI configured to only record when motion is being detected and I do see recorded video. Does BI have a log file where I can see motion triggers and most importantly that an Alert was executed (which in my case doesn't seem to happen).
  21. R

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

I do not have a Phillips Hue light. Having said that, why do you believe this is an HS issue? When I manually trigger an alert in BI then I see an appropriate log entry in HS. So it appears to me that for whatever reason no alert is being executed in BI despite the fact that the camera is...

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

I am using BI with HS (HomeSeer). In short, when a camera is being triggered then I do a "Post to a web address or MQTT server" which triggers an event on HS. At this point I narrowed it down to where I believe HS is not part of the problem. So here is where I am at this point: When I go to the...

Indoor Camera - Wansview, Utalent, UnionCam

Do you know when the new 4MP Hikvision will be in stock? And what is the expected selling price?
  24. R

Indoor Camera - Wansview, Utalent, UnionCam

Ok, thanks. I saw that HikVision came out with a new version. I am considering the 2.8mm 4MP version DS-2CD2443G0-IS (there is also a 2MP and 6MP). However, I can't find them at any US reseller nor could I find any (cheaper) third party vendor selling them? Maybe I need to get it from a Chinese...

Indoor Camera - Wansview, Utalent, UnionCam

I am not quite sure how that is possible. The door for the backyard is, well, in the back. The door for the front is in the front (pretty much a straight line). I can't quite figure out where to put the camera so it covers both the door in the back and front. It's basically a 180 degree angle...

Indoor Camera - Wansview, Utalent, UnionCam

Ok, got it, they are garbage. After further consideration I actually prefer a PoE camera to reduce wire clutter. Plus if I use Ethernet I don't have to use the 2.4GHz network (which is my guest network). I could only find two cameras, i.e.HikVision Cube and the Amcrest ProHD. It seems people...

Indoor Camera - Wansview, Utalent, UnionCam

I am looking for an indoor camera that works with BlueIris. So I looked on Amazon for anything that supports ONVIF. I really don't have many requirements. It needs to work with BlueIris, allow turning around it's vertical axis by close to 180 degrees and ideally not be an eyesore. I don't need...

    Blue Iris UI3

bp2008, thanks. I actually had a portrait and landscape group and checked those settings. However, it didn't do anything. It turns out that "Specify Frame Size" did the trick. I didn't set this before because I assumed this was for defining a specific resolution but I have many devices with...

    Blue Iris UI3

I really like ui3. Thank you for providing this! Having said that, my biggest issue is with the arrangements of the cameras. UI3 seems to assume a landscape layout. However, I mostly have a portrait layout, both on a computer as well as mobile devices. Can we have a feature where the cameras are...

    SkyBell

I have all my cameras connected to BlueIris except for SkyBell. I really would like to have that in BlueIris as well but could not find on how to integrate it. Is there a way to do this? They supposedly use an Amazon service so maybe BI can connect to that service and pull streams from there...
