Why you might consider adding a LPR camera

Mine just arrived a few days ago from Andy. Have to figure out how to mount it on a vertical stone column. Definitely want it on the back looking out and not on the top.

SD8C845FG-HNF 8MP 45x 1/1.2'' CMOS Dual Light Fusion Electronic Defog Network PTZ Camera

Not sure about those cameras. This PTZ has IR and two types of white light: full and soft. You can adjust how you want to use the white light at night. So far I have the white light turned off. The soft light was fairly bright when looking at the cam from the street. I havent tried the full...

SD8C845FG-HNF 8MP 45x 1/1.2'' CMOS Dual Light Fusion Electronic Defog Network PTZ Camera

I have a couple of night clips for review. It took a while to figure out how to get night and day profiles to change correctly (more on that later) I have the following settings for night: In the clip with the teens walking down the street in the middle of the night, seems like...

SD8C845FG-HNF 8MP 45x 1/1.2'' CMOS Dual Light Fusion Electronic Defog Network PTZ Camera

I'm working on getting them. I believe we are getting more snow tonight, so that won't work. I'm also having trouble getting the correct night settings for this cam. I tried doing manual exposure with shutter 0-8 ms and gain at 50 and image is black. I dont see hardly anything at all until I...

Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

I am having no luck setting profiles in my new SD8C845FG PTZ. It is a new model running on 5.0 webserver. I've tried the default http command and the new one discovered by @wittaj for the 4K. Also tried https as well. I am using the BI preset method. This cam has several profiles including...

SD8C845FG-HNF 8MP 45x 1/1.2'' CMOS Dual Light Fusion Electronic Defog Network PTZ Camera

I changed the daytime setting to those outlined by @wittaj in various posts. I have manual exposure with shutter 0-4 ms and gain 0-50. I knocked down NR both 2D and 3D to 25. Results are improved. Above pic is on auto settings. Below pic is on manual. I can almost read the license plate...

Nice to see another install using this box. I stumbled on it on my own didn't know about @looney2ns link. I pulled out that coax connecter thing on the hasp. I have a bolt to lock it down instead.

Makes sense. I know he got a lot of calls as soon as the power went out. For whatever reason the generators weren't working.

Looks like we all will need home generators.

Since I work from home, I was lucky enough to get my employer pay for a generator. I went with a Generac 22Kw guardian. It has saved us several times, mostly from snow storms knocking out power. I have found that the Generac is fairly painless to keep up. It has programmable excersize to...

    Outdoor POE switch install

UPDATE: Apparently I am stupid and can't read. This switch has 8 ports but only 4 are POE. UGH. I searched around for a better solution and the best and cheapest I came up with was installing a second switch. A little work and I got everything to fit. Lesson learned: READ THE Fing MANUAL.

SD8C845FG-HNF 8MP 45x 1/1.2'' CMOS Dual Light Fusion Electronic Defog Network PTZ Camera

So I did get this PTZ. It is my first so I am just learning. Right now I have settings on auto and just figued out how to enable auto tracking. Here are a couple of clips from daytime. I havent had opportunity to do night testing yet... had a snow storm which obscured everything.

LastPass says hackers stole customers’ password vaults

Article said the hackers still need to brute force your master password to gain access to your passwords. I for one have a very long random master password with numbers letters symbols etc. They would move one to someone elses password before getting into mine.

    Review: Dahua DH-IPC-MFW7442K1-Z4-T40 - Dual Sensor (4MP + 4MP) Bullet Camera

@Wildcat_1 I'm wondering if you have looked at the newer versions of this camera, in particular the 7449Y-Z7-T44 https://www.dahuasecurity.com/asset/upload/uploads/cpq/prm-os-srv-res/smart/datasheetzipfiles/IPC-MFW7449Y-Z7-T44_datasheet_20221130.pdf It has dual 1/1.8" sensors that are both IR...

    New cameras

I looked through all the spec sheets on them. Not sure where the 3 lenses are going. There are only two channels for each camera. I like the one with the fixed 3.6 mm and 8-56mm zoom. Would be perfect for covering the approaching driveway to get the car and the licenseplate These arent ANPR...

SD8C845FG-HNF 8MP 45x 1/1.2'' CMOS Dual Light Fusion Electronic Defog Network PTZ Camera

Above pics look alot like a spotlight. I'm OK with that. For whatever reason, Dahua shortened the range of the white light illuminator on the new camera. Camera only has a max range of 80 meters. Here is a pic where this PTZ might be going from the color 4K-X 2.8 mm at night on a new moon...
