Are there any best steps to downgrade a firmware (i.e. reset, etc after upgrade)?

I guess the question is how does one turn off the siren on the later FW. The one you provided DH_IPC-HX2X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream2_V2.800.0000015.0.R.200430.bin has this option, but also later versions address security issues so what is the recommended step?

That's unfortunate, but I think it is a user issue (i.e. you are missing a step), just like it was for me the first time where I couldn't get it to work. If you want to post your step by step workflow I am willing to help!

Since these doorbells are all Dahua rebranded, do they still try to TFTP at boot time in order to grab firmware, like the POE cameras, or do they have a different behaviour? I'm tempted to try and load up Dahua firmware on it via SmarPSS, but I don't want to hose it... :)

I would try it at $55 if it can be powered off the doorbell wiring; where do you see it at $55?? I can't get ethernet there, but it's my side door, and really it would be ideal to get a camera on the side as I don't have a way to get power for any camera there.
