    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Since the cameras aren't sync'd to the power line, the odds of them being able to exactly math the grid frequency is zilch. My best guess if that you'd see a slow fading in and out.

Speaking of spin, in Hannity's recent Trump interview, he asked Trump "“Under no circumstances, you are promising America tonight, you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?" " Trump responded: “Except for day one I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill.” ...

Plugin for Linux to see live view remotely

I guess Hikvision is different. I can see live view from a Dahua NVR on both Brave and Firefox with a Mint distribution. Time-wise it's a bit laggy, but the video quality is good.

Rewording this to including energy content: Lastly to produce 115,000 BTU of energy (as 1 gal of gasoline), the refinery uses 17,060 BTUs (as 5 kWh of electricity), for a 6.7x increase of available energy! It's then economically shipped via diesel trucks to the pump. The pump dispenser again...

    Invalid IP Assigned

The UI should have rejected 192.xxx.xxx.300 . But since it didn't, maybe it just truncated the .300 to an 8-bit number, which would have set it to 192.xxx.xxx.44. Try looking for it there.

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

The illumination angle and distance specs are different, not that I necessarily believe either one. I have a hard time taking any of it seriously with statements like "Features 55 infrared LEDs for better nighttime visibility". It certainly does look the same based on the photos.

Giving up on PC + Blue Iris- should I try an NVR?

I think there's an apples-to-oranges comparison going on here. Even if a particular windows release has some bugs, if you don't run an app or use features and device drivers that have bugs, it can run forever. There have been enough posts to make me believe that BI does not have any system...

    backup software

Same with me, years ago. I have the same beef with all of the commercial backup utilities I've used. They start out as nice and simple: Tell them to run a backup, and they create a backup. Then over time, the utilities creep into "bigger and better", and go to running automatically, making...

    Understanding minimum illumination

I quit looking at the Minimum Illumination spec after buying a 2231 because it has a better spec than the 5231. The 5231 spec is 0.006 lux, and the 2231's spec is 0.002 lux. With both of them side-by-side, I can't see any difference in their low light performance.

    Recommendation for Animal detection

Please do report back if the better Hikvision cameras work for animal detection. With Dahua, I'm afraid that the NLA older 5442s are the end of the line for catching animals. I'm adding a teaser picture of what we're not able to have. It's an enlarged crop from a 4k-x at 2AM, lit only by...

    Recommendation for Animal detection

I'm assuming that the ....0.8.R firmware won't work in the S3 models. It would take somebody trying it to be sure, but I have little hope for it. I don't think any of the lower end cameras that will pick up animals come even close to the 5442 for low light image quality, so they are not viable...

    Camera reliability?

I have 10 cameras hanging on trees and fence posts fully exposed to the rain, snow, and temp extremes. No junction boxes, just common sense in the connections. The cameras are so far reliable. I do get a moisture-related failure in a connector about once every 2 years, which so far has been...
