Can you add another IP Camera to your NVR which is connected to another NVR in a different location?

Sure, but why? Why just add his NVR to your Hik-Connect or iVMS-4200. He can share his device via email from HikConnect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hikvision camera selection 5mp or 8mp?

I agree 100% I also don’t like that the Hik marketing makes it very confusing to determine which cameras are truly meant for low light.(unless you scour the specs) They have branded a few cameras as dark fighter that have no business being called that! They also overuse EXIR which barely makes...

Hikvision camera selection 5mp or 8mp?

I own them both. The Hik is newer than the Dahua, that’s why it’s cheaper. I am sure when the newer Dahua comes out, it’ll be better. The Dahua is only slightly better in low light. Let me emphasize that, slightly. With slow shutter enabled, the Hik is better overall, but above 4x slow...

Hikvision camera selection 5mp or 8mp?

The hikvision 4mp PTZ is cheaper than the Dahua 2mp. 4x zoom vs 3x etc. That’s why I bought two! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hikvision camera selection 5mp or 8mp?

They do spec them in millimetres, you just have to remember the US is still stuck in imperial system dark ages. Which is funny because they seem to be ok with millimetres for lens sizes! This has the metric sizes if it helps. Image sensor format - Wikipedia Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

where have all the affordable PZT cameras gone?

They are very similar. The Dahua is literally a hair better. If you turn on the slow shutter on the Hik, it gets way better, but slight ghosting above 4x. I like my Dahua , but the Hik is better overall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Protecting pass thru cat6 rj 45 cable ends after a crimp and flush cut

Every conductor should be untwisted and straightened. If you've done it correctly, every conductor should be straight and stay in place when you let go. Cut off anything more than 3/4 to 1 inch and the connector will slide on with zero effort. Don't put anything on the end. You don't need it...

where have all the affordable PZT cameras gone?

For the same price, I’d go with the Hik. (Ds-2cde2a404iw-de3 Better lens, no dome distortion. 4mp vs 2mp. 4x vs 3x The Dahua is a hair better in low light. Image overall is better on the Hik Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thoughts on new DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 4MP PTZ?

I have 2x of these myself. I also have 1x Dahua 1A203TNI. The biggest and most noticeable difference is that the DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 has significantly less dome distortion. The Dahua gets very blurry at the edges. The Hik does have a much nicer zoom too. It’s quicker and the digital zoom looks...

    Decoder needed!

Sadly, I need to display a mix of TV-I and IP cams. They use Milestone as a VMS and an encoder handles the TV-I cams. Streams from both device types need to be on the monitor. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Decoder needed!

It’s Monitor to display selected cams. No more than 16. Need a device that is not pc based and will resume after power failure etc. Was using a Hik, dahua and Vivok decoder but they won’t do rtsp or multi-channel onvif. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hikvision NVR and Hik-Connect

Yes, you can set it up. You’ll need to go figure the NVR and iVMS. Are you using Hik-Connect login w/ iVMS or a local connection? This should help: https://www.hikvision.com/ueditor/net/upload/2017-03-10/ec9c4788-4954-440a-8033-ddd393089014.pdf Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

10 cameras, 7 repeaters, mesh wifi? what would you buy?

+1 on P2P wireless bridge Hardwire cams always, interconnect with bridge. I have linked multiple buildings together using P2P when trenching is not an option and directional boring is cost-prohibitive. I have used some Ubiquiti stuff recently and was pleasantly surprised. Sent from my iPad...

Cabinet Installed for large home install, Plus prewire pics

Looks good overall. We typically pipe everything in wall for added protection, easy additions, and fire rating. No matter how much you pull, there never seems to be a cable where they want to add something! We don’t use core line or smurf tube or w/e Americans call it. There are some really...

No strain relief on those bundles? No jhooks above either? Should have stubbed down that wall with pipe to a proper junction box, rather than just a hole in the drywall. At least then you can add a cable easily in the future. Spray foam on the top plate etc. We always run a spare, empty pipe for...
