What feature(s) would you like to see in Blue Iris?

Hopefully he still has this on his list...I asked him for it (for the same reasons as you) several months ago.

What feature(s) would you like to see in Blue Iris?

Above the clip window there's a view folder where you can select which items to display....Sentry display options are available there.

    Unsuccessful logins Alert

I got a response from Ken...don't think it was in today's update though: "So maybe ... An IP address connects. Wait X seconds for a successful login ... No successful login after X seconds, fire an action set list? THanks"

    Unsuccessful logins Alert

From a BI options perspective (I don't use BI tools), it appears the only option that could help you might be to auto-ban an IP after XX unsuccessful login attempts. You can do this in BI options > Webserver > Advanced. That said, warnings, messages, errors, remote access, etc., that end up as...

Are junction boxes necessary for camera installs?

Using a junction box in some locations will sometimes give just enough more clearance from eaves and walls to minimize the dreaded IR reflection. Some cameras can run a little hot so using a junction box may allay some fears of overheating a wall.

wait until triggered at least x times in y seconds ?

You're in the right place--Check your make time and be sure it will allow the number of triggers you want within the 3 secs (you'll likely have to decrease the make time to well under a second--will take some trial and error). Save video of a person walking the steps so you can run the video...

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

Yes, if you go to zone B and you haven't drawn anything, then you won't see anything other than your faded zone A. That's normal. Consider deleting that cam in BI and add a new cam, then be very lenient on the settings for the new cam...uncheck object detection and reduce min obj size and min...

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

Use zone crossing (mult zones) if you have a lot of false triggers for that camera. The video will shed a lot of light on what you're asking, but also take a look at your contrast setting of 33. Try reducing it to 25 or maybe even less...

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

I think it's important to identify what's causing the alerts. I posted that light/dark changes due to clouds/sun greatly reduced the alerts (on cams where I have one zone for motion detection) that I'm experiencing using edge vector. What's causing your false alerts?

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

Had a lot of intermittent clouds and sunshine today and far fewer alerts than normal...in fact I don't remember one related to the light/dark cycle of clouds moving across the sun. On the downside however, I find it difficult (with edge vector selected) to get alerts properly when I use...

Does anyone else hate Hik as much as I do?

My ptz starlight (onvif) didn't send events, but my other Dahua did and like you the camera turned on its internal motion detection. I just left it on and made sure the "area" was empty so I'd know I was getting IVS events in BI.

Does anyone else hate Hik as much as I do?

That's why I said, "in some cases." I had a Dahua 30X PTZ starlight onvif that didn't send events.

Does anyone else hate Hik as much as I do?

I have three Hiks left and they've been demoted to boring locales. The only thing Hiks have over Dahua (in some cases at least) is the ability to get events with pullpointsubscription in Blue Iris so one can use the camera's IVS to detect motion rather than Blue Iris--but nowadays BI's motion...

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

I use similar settings in my driveway and a couple of times the camera didn't trigger. I unchecked min obj size and object moves...but that didn't resolve the problem (ran the video through motion detector test). What did solve the problem was reducing the contrast from 23 to 15 (reducing to...

    Driveway camera

But if you must have only one camera for all your driveway needs both during the day and night, then consider a 6mm or 12mm camera that does well at night (Dahua and Hikvision are both good options). Plan on forfeiting wide angle views for a more narrow field of view (especially at night) in...

    Cameras Missing

Sounds like you're displaying a group that excludes some of your cameras. Not sure about V4 Blue Iris, but in V5 there's a drop down on the display to change which group is displayed. Anyway, I'd start with investigating your groups. When you show ptz controls on your desktop, check the gear...

Night vision / IR issue on left side

Aristobat etal are probably right, the IR reflection is what's likely causing the issues...so testing the IR with no walls should probably be your first move after trying the backlight modification. If you're stuck with the location, you may consider turning off IR altogether and use a...

Night vision / IR issue on left side

He might be referring to custom BLC (backlighting) where you can set up, down, left, right or center. Not sure that would help in this case though. Won't hurt to try another camera if you suspect there's a physical problem with the one you have. I don't think you'll be satisfied though. You...

    Zones and re-triggering

Object size and travel sometimes do make a difference....start by unchecking both and rerunning the video if you have it through the motion detector test. Then add them back one by one to see which is the problem. Could be other factors such as zone size, etc. I elaborated the same info to...

    Zones and re-triggering

It'd be helpful if you posted a screenshot and desired outcome, but based upon your description, it sounds as if your rule "A-B, B" would work just fine if you always want the motion detector to trigger when objects enter zone B and also when an object moves from zone B to A or A to B. You can...

    Camera Placement Advice

Know where your dryer vent exhaust is so you can avoid triggers when it's cold outside. If you have a heat pump then your compressor will also cause triggers. Great advice by Southern Yankee for temp placement for testing.
