No I dont use the sunrise/sunset utility.
Two things work- use “Schedule”
1- keep the camera in B&W 24/7. Even with different exposure settings for day/night
2- set the change from day (Color) to night (B&W) 1 hour Before sunset and switch back to day 1 hour After sunrise.

Iris over about 40% caused me problems.
Yes I would pull back to 85% zoom and find the spot where it maintains focus.
Try CBR. With fast moving objects and a tight focal point VBR in my opinion doesn’t react fast enough, thus the dull or slightly blurred shots.
Unless you have some storage or...
Anything after about 80-85% zoom and the camera wont hold focus very well. This may be why you noticed the cam zoom by itself.
1/1000 is pretty standard, even 1/2000 if the vehicles are moving fast, say over 25mph.
Those images look kinda dull, not sharp. What bitrate are you running?
Most all cameras, including $2000-$5000 models, use 850nm infrared leds. Yes they show small red dots, but unless you’re looking for them and right at them it’s hard to spot. Really I wouldn’t worry about it and it can act as a bit of extra deterrent.
Other wavelengths like 940nm are all but...
Well when I get up there again I'll snap a shot for ya with and without WDR on, but pretty sure that's what you're seeing. Part of that may also be the mesh fence you're looking at through the stall door..
Its not exactly an expensive camera, and I have seen similar image changes on other Dahua...
Thanks @jmcu , exactly what i was hoping to get was some good experienced feedback. This guy is a Go Big or Go Home type and as long as he's under $2K he;s fine with price.
On the the 2 NVR's, i think both being PoE there is not conflict as they can only see the cameras attached to them. To...
So the buddy I helped install cameras for with the goats and Birdhouse LPR cams wants to install some more!
This time he wants to do (2) PTZ's with say 25-40X Starlights, and a couple more bullets, likely 5442 VF's..
He'd rather spend a few more $ and get good PTZ's. I'm a novice when it...
Yep I was In your shoes back in 2012 which made me Dive in. Layers is the best bet, inexpensive perimeter alarms (Guardline) overlapping cameras, good home alarm system and all the usual stuff like locking car doors and having good nosy neighbors!
Ever consider a birdhouse...
I'll take a stab at some of those: worth what ya pay for it.
1- Angle is important. I have one at 30+ degrees and 16ft above the roadway @120ft and its tricky. More than 30 gets even harder. With the Z12 once you get past 140ft it gets iffy as to holding focus, unless your shooting dead...
