@mat200 yea its getting so bad here in LA, so much crime its insane and I live in a "good" area.
Too difficult to run wires through the concrete slab, I have 2 dummy Axis cameras behind those walls to scare away bad guys but they obviously don't care.
Speaking of trash this just happened today, this guy decides to throw his entire meal in the street right in front of my house. Watch in slow motion and turn up the volume. LPR got his car but he didn't have front plates.
Why do I have so many trash incidents, first the garbage truck throws...
@mat200 ok fine maybe not "stealing" but what if (not this guy) someone is going threw your trash and trying to steal your identity looking for papers that has your name, DOB, address, ect.
I'm sure he was just looking for cans or bottles to recycle but its still wrong. I would be more then...
This homeless guy tried to steal from my trash, I didn't want a confrontation so I turned on the siren on my Ring floodlight camera. That that didn't help and he didn't care work so I yelled at the guy to go and he said "thank you".
Turn up your volume:
I've had the Ring gen 2 alarm for almost a year now and so far I've never had to charge the keypad before. I have the LED and volume set to really low and also enabled power save mode.
I would not go through all of that work to run the wire for it but its up to you.
This might be a stupid question and I might sound like an idiot but here it goes....
Is it just me or does surveillance footage look better at night when its raining compared to when its not? Does IR travel further in the rain?
So weird, it works fine today no error, I did not make any changes. But when I try to playback only yesterdays video for half the day on specific cameras I do get the error but not todays playback.
@bigredfish thank you for the response. If it was a network issue wouldn't also occur from the web based playback? The issue is not random, I can reproduce it on demand from only certain cameras from Smart PSS but works fine from the web based playback. I didnt change any settings that caused it...
I've used Smart PSS for several years now and it works well besides random crashes but that's not my main concern. Starting this morning when I try review playback on a few of my cameras I get the "Failed to start playback. NETSDK returns error" (see screenshot below), some of the cameras I can...
@wittaj yes true but I'm tempted after watching this video (post below) from @tech101

Amcrest and Andy have a similar version but this one is a 8 MP with a 1/1.8 CMOS sensor. I gotta somehow talk my wife into this new toy.

Video quality is stunning! Especially for an 8 MP at night. Nice work, hopefully LE can get these guys in custody but knowing CA they would be out quick even without bailing out.
Fast forward to 1:09
Warning video is very graphic and has foul language if you have kids around. You must be signed into YouTube in order to watch it.
You can easily cut the camera cable or even wire it into your laptop and possibly access her network
EDIT: If her cams are not segmented into a VLAN and DMZ
