Recommendations for IP camera to record and live stream my bird feeder (4k, 25fps+ and less than $200)

I started the process just like you about a year ago. Have several feeders I wanted to watch. After much consideration, I ended up with a 25x zoom 4MP Hikvision DS-2DE4A425IW-DE. It's around $600 for a US camera. I have multiple presets that can zoom on feeders and nesting boxes as well as...

    What UPS

I'm thinking I'm ready for a UPS. (Should have done is sooner.) I've been reading of heat/fire issues and wondering what model to go for. I have a HP Elitedesk running BI and when finished will have 7 -8 cameras. Also have things like my Router, switch, a couple of different hubs and a small NAS...

Thanks. Going to hook it up and see what happens.

Connecting two microphones to one camera.

I'm using a Hikvision DS-2DE4A425IW-DE. I assume it is a mono mic input. (Their is not an internal mic on this camera.)

Connecting two microphones to one camera.

I have two bird feeders that I'm looking at with a PTZ. When I'm looking at one, I can hear only the sound from the other. Would like to hear both and was thinking maybe a mic at each would do the trick?

Connecting two microphones to one camera.

With a Y-connector. Any reason why this would not work?

Using a PoE cat6 cable for power only

So, it looks like the camera uses 18w and the light uses 4w. Not sure about the mic but I would assume it's less than the light. If the PoE+ switch can provide 30 watts, maybe that's not my problem?

Using a PoE cat6 cable for power only

I actually have a camera in this location. Its a Hikvision PTZ. I'm currently using power splitters to power the camera, mic and light from the one cat6 and am noticing some stutter in the stream and sometimes intermittent loss of video. My PoE switch is a Netgear GS116PP with a 183 watt power...

Using a PoE cat6 cable for power only

Thanks. I'm trying to power the mic and light and was thinking running cat6 wire would be easier than a power cable. Maybe that's not such a good idea.

Using a PoE cat6 cable for power only

I would like to use a PoE switch with cat6 cable to power a small IR illuminator and a microphone. Is this not advisable for some reason? What color wires or pin numbers in a cat6 cable are power?

Just checked my mail and Alex (tinycam) responded with a promo code that seems to have worked. Thanks.

tinycampro. This was posted in the tinycam forum. I have more than one gmail acct. and I changed the acct. on the tablet the issue is on. I suspect that the issue is with google play not showing the app purchase on this acct. I don't mind just buying it again under the new acct. Not really sure...

All about Hubitat Elevation Home Automation Hub

I've been with Insteon since it began. The android app they had for many years was pretty bad. The hardware is exceptional (imo) and being that I have so much of it, I've hung in with it. They recently released a "public beta" version of their new and improved app. It's much snappier, but leaves...

    Securing home networks

I know the consensus is to secure your network cameras. I'm a little curious if IP cams are more susceptible in some way than every other connected device we have in our homes. My house (as I'm sure many of you) is full of wifi connected, as well as hard wired devices. Everything from...

    Recording Failed

I have a Samsung Galaxy TabS4 tablet with tinyCamPro 14.2.2. Camera is a Hikvision PTZ. When trying to record from the camera icon on live video feed of tinyCam, the icon turns red and a recording timer starts. After stopping the recording and trying to view it with the play button on the...

Controlling when Hikvision DS-2DE4A425IW PTZ Camera runs its Pan / Tilt / Zoom Test

I have this cam as well and aren't aware of any test. When it powers on and boots it performs a self test. Could it possibly be losing power at night for some reason?

Small light "orbs" and motion detection

Awesome post! wopi82 clearly explained a number of things difficult to grasp. (for me anyway) I'm sure I'll refer back to it. No bugs here now. Way too cold. I'm using a Hikvision DS-2DE4A425IW-DE. The effect is the same on another Dahua cam I have as well. Both were mounted below a deck...

Small light "orbs" and motion detection

What exactly are the small little objects floating around and visible by cameras at night? Doesn't matter what camera I'm using. I see what looks like dust particles or bugs moving past the camera. I've got motion detection set at 20 and it still triggers the recording. How do you deal with this?

Is there any way to do this on a Hikvision camera? Searched the settings and I'm not seeing this option.

    Mounting a DS-2DE4A425IW-DE

Thanks for your input! The wiring connections look water tight. There's a gap around the perimeter of the outer casing that will collect some degree of water/moisture. Not sure if that would drain and exit a safe location below. I haven't tried to open it up and see? I have some splicing...
