5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

Any hard working company would love to hear feedback from a customer about wanted features. My post and the updates I see from Blue Iris itself are positive and professional discourse. It's a perfectly normal thing for mentally balanced people to do.

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

I do realize this user base has diverse use cases and needs, but for me personally, I'm kinda disappointed that v5 dev time is prioritizing and fumbling around with yet another marketable motion detection feature over basic under the hood improvements like more modern and better...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

    1) You can do it easily on motion (but not ring AFAIK) with trigger in BI to IFTTT assuming your Smart home system is open to IFTTT. For example, I have an alert on the driveway camera in BI to, on motion trigger, send request to https://maker.ifttt.com/trigger/GarageLightOn/with/key/xyz.. which...

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

Teeny tiny UI bug to report. I'm on BI 5 with BIT 1.5. In BIT, click Backup, "Backup Blue Iris Settings/Cameras", "Export BI Settings /Cameras". Confirmation message says "Blue Iris 4 settings / cameras have been successfully backed up." Expected behavior is confirmation message should say...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I'm getting security login blocked out of my db1 doorbell cam for 30 minutes when I reboot my Blue Iris PC. I think this started around the time I upgraded to BI 5.0. Anyone else have this problem? (I searched this forum and Google several times with no luck). After PC reboot, camera shows...

    4.6.9 - January 31, 2018 H.265 hardware decoding added

I should have specified I was referring to cpu utilization of h.265 vs h.264 on newer CPUs without hw acceleration. Utilization seems about the same.

    4.6.9 - January 31, 2018 H.265 hardware decoding added

Using h.265 without hw acceleration works great. On newer CPUs there is no noticeable difference in utilization in my tests. The benefit of h.265 is smaller file sizes and decreased bandwidth consumption which really helps with wifi cameras.

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

Smart. And good to know. So the wrong/delayed temp I see must be WU bugs. Didn't notice until today. The other stuff that requests through API is accurate so I thought could be API... Thanks for clarifying.

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

Yeah the buggyness is not new. Their API changes don't limit uploading data from your PWS. Rather, in order to make requests to pull data, you need to get the new API key from my 2nd link above. Those keys are specifically for PWS owners who are actively uploading data. The primary impact of...

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

I read back through this thread and didn't see it mentioned from late last year. Not sure if discussed already. At the end of 2018 Weather Underground deprecated their API and now charges for frequent access to weather data. Personal weather station owners who upload weather data to WU can get...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

That's awesome! I thought I was nuts since I have MimoLite connected to my chime to send dorbell notifications via SmartThings and phones, but also and Google home announcement (Raspberry PI Google Assistant Relay). But your setup is cool too!

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

When you're in the mood, a move to Ubiquiti's NanoHD might help. I recently replaced UAP-AC-Pro with NanoHD to help with some new IP camera placement. My DB1 doorbell was working okay before that, but reported some retries and dropped packets. With NanoHD near zero retries and almost zero...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I've been using 16V/10VA (the one with 3 terminals, different voltage options) with 100% success so far for a few weeks. Streams to BI 24x7, no drops, and no issues when doorbell pressed. No change across original and latest Nelly firmware on Uniden db1.

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I couldn't pass up on the DB1 for $50. So glad it works well thanks to all the tips in this thread. My Ubiquiti AP reports the wifi signal from the Uniden "99% (-45 dBm)" compared to generally -75 to -80db for the awful August Doorbell gen 1 it replaced. The firmware bugs are a shame but it does...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I have a MimoLite wired to my chime. It stays unpowered except when chime rings. Z-wave signal to Smart things on ring for automations. Never fails, going on 5 years now.

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

Update on my GPU offload power tests. I was just doing similar tests with different GPU HA options in K-Lite codec pack and realized in my earlier tests I had my entire media power strip measured, not my PC. (Previous results included 34" monitor, routers, hubs and stuff. Actual power results...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

Point taken. If accurate, that covers the cost of a whole year of Netflix! As right as you are, in the interest of having one PC in the house, for my next PC upgrade, I'll probably still go high end. But add in a newer more efficient PSU, hopefully the more modern chip set and motherboard has...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

I've considered a budget PC for BI and other 24 x 7 stuff, in fact I used to have an old box without HA running all my 24 x 7 apps. Even a laptop years ago. Other gadgets have since consumed that extra space. If 200 watts is accurate, that is pretty high. But my whole house averages about 1000...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

The Z-wave outlet power meter is not that accurate but it is relatively consistent or easy to spot odd fluctuations. So a 10 watt LED light bulb might show as 9 or 11 watts (what I have seen), but it would be mostly stable/consistent between reports after initial power on. It reported...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

Yep, I've kind of lost track over the months and just left it enabled. I thought it was working for h.264 though, and didn't cause me harm or errors. But, good to see GPU HA now works. Not sure I'll use it ongoing, but cool I think the challenge with direct camera stream was authentication...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

Ok, thinking about power consumption, take this with a grain of salt. I did three 2-minute tests with my PC plugged into a z-wave power outlet that reports energy use in watts, configured to report every 1 second. These are notoriously not at all scientifically accurate devices but they are...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

First, thanks to the developer for continuing to innovate this reliable product over the years. Even if this feature doesn't save power (I'd have to measure), it does allow some CPU offload which might benefit some use cases. With the virtual end of Intel's Moore's law a few years back, the more...

    4.6.9 - January 31, 2018 H.265 hardware decoding added

Using H/W on/off in Blue Iris or not, make sure you download the latest LAV/decoder pack to get stable h.265. This resolved all my BI h.265 problems with my Amcrest IP4M-1026B cameras a few months back. I have no issues with latest 4.6.9.2 update with H/W = On. But he might have already reverted...

Trying to pick a home automation system - BI integration is a must
