    Optiplex Motherboard Form Factor

Unusual question, but I figure some of you might have already gone down this path or can at least tell me if I am spinning my wheels. My BI box runs happily on a Dell Optiplex 5050 in the tower case. I'd like to move a different case that might have a little more drive bay capacity and use less...

Security Guard Shoots Robbers Holding Up A 7 Eleven With A Fake Gun.. "Am I shot? Oh fck Yeah!

Turns out the shooting was in Gardena, CA - not Hamilton, NJ. Security guard opens fire on robbery suspects at Gardena 7-Eleven

    Filter alerts by Motion Zone?

Fenderman, what is the proper way to setup a cloned camera so that it does not record a second stream? I tried to do exactly this today, and ended up with recorded files for the duped camera.

Security Guard Shoots Robbers Holding Up A 7 Eleven With A Fake Gun.. "Am I shot? Oh fck Yeah!

Hopefully a bonus for helping take out the trash :-) And hopefully he will spend it on a higher capacity semi auto pistol instead of the revolver. While he got 2 out of the 3 shots for sure, I would not want to knowingly take on multiple assailants with only 6 in the cylinder.

    7 Dahau cameras lost connectivity

I don't need to make you look stupid; you did that well enough on your own. If you understand the issue then don't try to defend your choices with half baked arguments and cliche responses.

I am so stealing that analogy.

    7 Dahau cameras lost connectivity

Agreed. Applies to all internet facing software, and most internal facing software. Also agreed. However, using a tool that is designed to be hardened and exposed to the internet - is better than using a tool that has not. As a 20 year infosec pro who has built and run successful security...

    7 Dahau cameras lost connectivity

True, but that would be unnecessary. Your bank's website has been coded and is regularly tested to withstand the types of attacks that you face on the internet. Additionally, one would hope that the bank has additional layers of security designed to detect and mitigate attacks as soon as...

You have the most... interesting... captures. Have you considered asking the police to establish a permanent precinct in your garage?

Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z - Replace SSL Cert

Awesome. I just updated all the cams a week or two ago to 2.460.0000.3.R, Build Date: 2017-01-05, and this tab is not in that version. Thought I was on the latest at the time :-) Looks like I'll be doing some updating this week. Thanks!

Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z - Replace SSL Cert

I have enabled HTTPS on my IPC-HDW5231R-Z turrets. I didn't see a way to upload my own SSL cert to the cams. Am I overlooking something or am I out of luck? And, before anyone points out the relatively low benefit of doing this... I'm not port forwarding, everything is behind an IPSec VPN, and...

    7 Dahau cameras lost connectivity

Is anything else on the switch and did they have issues? Have you tried putting any other devices on the switch and see if they can communicate with the BI server or the cameras? How did you attempt to connect to the cameras admin pages? If all 7 went out at the same time I would be looking...

Analysis paralysis: low voltage cables through drywall

Wow, I step away from the interwebs for a while and get all this advice. Thanks, everyone! I ended up changing the install location. The corner I was going to use turned out to have too many other logistical issues, so my wife caved on letting me use my original choice - part of an existing...

Analysis paralysis: low voltage cables through drywall

Pretty close to what I did. If I use firecaulk and need to add/replace a cable down the road, how will that work?

Analysis paralysis: low voltage cables through drywall

Yes. I have about $500 in my switches alone; I'd rather not bake them :-) Plus, I have my NAS, cable modem, and other equipment in the rack. None of that needs to be in the attic.

Analysis paralysis: low voltage cables through drywall

The surface mount plywood and plastic bushings would work. I'll see what I can find in the way of bushings tonight What's the problem with coax on the patch panel? I'm using F-Type pass through keystone jacks on the PP terminate both the video distribution cables and demarcs for...

Analysis paralysis: low voltage cables through drywall

Yes, I'm pulling about 60 cables total. I don't want to terminate them in the wall for cable management reasons. It is a long room with vaulted ceilings The walls are about 5ft. I'm doing built in shelves down the entire wall, and building in cabinetry one end hold the patch panels and...

Analysis paralysis: low voltage cables through drywall

As part of my new camera deployment, I'm ripping out the spaghetti pile of cat3, silver satin, Cat5, and various coax cables and replacing it with new Cat6 and RG6/U. I'll be pulling about 45 Cat6 and 15 RG6 cables through the attic to a structured panel in the only room on the second floor...
