    VPN Primer for Noobs

I in the process of buying a new house and will be redoing my camera system and home network. I have a LaView NVR that I used to view remotely via port forwarding. Obviously, this isn't a good solution. My question comes into how to set up the entire network. I have a fairly new Linksys...

    Tinycam and Laview (hikvision) NVR

I'm attempting to get the Tinycam app to work with my IP cam setup. I attempted the scan feature and it didn't discover anything. (I'm assuming because they're behind the NVR on a different subnet). I have a LV-N9808C8E NVR, which doesn't look like an option with the app. I tried to do a...

Displaying Feed On PC Monitors Around Home

That's what I figured. I have cat6 run from the closet where the NVR and my media server are, to the basement where I'd like to place the monitor. It, however, dumps into a switch in the basement before being fed around the room. I'm assuming that'd kill any HDMI over Cat options, correct (I've...

Displaying Feed On PC Monitors Around Home

I currently have several extra monitors in my home and I'd like to purpose them for showing the camera feeds. I currently have a laview (rebranded hikivison) and several hik cameras installed. The NVR is in a closet away from the locations I'd be looking to place the monitors. Is there an easy...

    Hik Virtual Host NVR Issues

My apologies, I thought you were asking for the virtual host assignment. Yes the cameras then begin after that IP. One second and I will ping the actual IPs. I am on my regular network though, won't a ping not work to those IPs as they're on a different subnet I believe it is? Isn't that the...

    Hik Virtual Host NVR Issues

My NVR IP is 192.168.1.xxx, the virtual host IPs for the cams are the same IP but with different endings. Cam 1 - http://192.168.1.241:65001/ etc

    Hik Virtual Host NVR Issues

I'm not sure how to ping those addresses. My NVR is 192.XXX.X.241 and the cameras are 192.XXX.X.241:65001-65003. I am able to ping the NVR when I try to ping the cameras I get - "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

    Hik Virtual Host NVR Issues

I have a Laview rebranded Hikvision NVR system. I have the virtual host enabled and was able to connect to the cameras. I installed a 3rd camera, and now the first two cameras do not connect via the NVR provided IP. What setting may have changed? I also enabled port forwarding and DDNS to remote...

Remote Access/Viewing and Integration with Apps Question

I've been having issues wrapping my head around the best way to integrate my new system with my home automation. I am also trying to use TinyCam on a few tablets I have around the house and my cell phone. I've went through several tutorials but I'm missing something somewhere. I have a LaView...

Trouble with LaView NVR and DS-2CD2335-I

Reset my NVR to default and got everything working. Still need to read up on how to setup remote viewing. Anyone have any suggestions? I read that simply port forwarding is dangerous and not secure. Thoughts?

Trouble with LaView NVR and DS-2CD2335-I

I was able to get one camera live, and working on my NVR last night. However when attempting to get the second working I lost both. I think I'm going to reset the NVR to default and start fresh as I'm sure I've got settings screwed up somewhere. Thanks for the laptop information. I couldn't...

Trouble with LaView NVR and DS-2CD2335-I

I plugged in a laptop into the NVR and was able to find the cameras. I changed my camera IPs to match the NVR successfully. When I attempt to load the camera via the IP however I am getting an unable to connect error. I have attempted to manually add the cameras to the NVR via its software...

Trouble with LaView NVR and DS-2CD2335-I

So I purchased a NewEgg deal that they had on LaView camera/NVR. Unfortunatly at some point during the remodel the cameras walked, thus I'm left with a LaView NVR. From all my research they're just dumbed down Hikvision. My NVR is LV-N9808C8E. With that I purchased a few Hikvision cameras...

    $329 LaView LV-KN988P84A4 Premium IP Surveillance System 8 Channel NVR + 4x 2MP

I think as frankred stated, those are the wrong specs. The page on Laview's website links to the incorrect manual and spec sheets for the NVR of that package. I haven't been able to find the model number or specs for the one used in this package.

Who knows networking? How can I keep my new NVR septate from personal network?

What are the best common practices as far as setting up your IP network? I would like to keep it secure, however I would also like the convenience of using apps like TinyCam when away. I currently have a wired network with 3 of 4 ports filled on my router (Asus RT-ac56u). My basement is also...

    $329 LaView LV-KN988P84A4 Premium IP Surveillance System 8 Channel NVR + 4x 2MP

That's strange, I took the model # from the NewEgg and it matched the LaView page. Either way, thank you for the info. So it's your impression that this unit is limited to 100Mbps? Is there a calculator or formula to play around with to determine the usable cameras. I intend to start with 3-4...

    $329 LaView LV-KN988P84A4 Premium IP Surveillance System 8 Channel NVR + 4x 2MP

Care to explain it's limitations. I'm in a rather goofy situation. I saw this deal the end of last year, jumped on it because I wanted a decent IP system. We were in the middle of a remodel and somehow the cameras somehow walked -_-. I now have the NVR from this system and a purple drive I...

    Hello

This is a great forum! I'm a longtime forum user from everything from phones to cars to cologne. I hate that forums are fading away and being replaced by unorganized and chaotic Facebook groups. Just wanted to say thanks for all the informative members. I've got some questions to come as I...
