That sounds reasonable, a common problem when ajaxing in stuff without checking the return data before presenting it to the browser. There are several java techniques that can avoid this issue, type cast the expected return value is one of them, the other most obvious method would be to inspect...

I would never exclude an entire folder - you open a place a virus can live in, instead just exclude the file types in that folder. That way if another type file gets into that folder it will be detected.

Are you using the 64 bit version of BI? You might want to try the 32bit version...My CPU usage just went up again on the latest x64 release of BI (4.0.1.8).

Since you're running the 4790 at stock speeds (I'm assuming) and you were running the 920 OC'd the problem is one of system balance, and a good lesson on what affects the speed of a computer. What model netgear router do you have? I've never heard of a router that doesn't have a firewall but does port forwarding (because port forwarding is technically a firewall function). I don't think your camera is the problem - if it works locally then you have a network issue, not a camera...

You can also make a loopback connector to test the port, and/or use a program like putty to test with (windows 7+ doesn't come with hyperterminal anymore). You should be able to use any terminal program to connect directly to the camera (all you are really looking for is any type of response)...
