Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I initially had the Jan 2017 firmware on most of my cameras (I think the first 3 had the late 2016 firmware), then upgraded all to the recent firmware update. Not a single random reboot before or after any of the firmware upgrades. IVS is enabled. I have the 5216 non-Poe nvr (with 2 Seagate...

How would it cause overheating? Leave them in. If there is any moisture inside (air contains moisture), you will run the risk of the lens fogging or condensation shorting out the camera. May not be the case in the Sahara desert, but in the SE US where I am, condensation / moisture intrusion...

Use 6" pvc sewer pipe with a 6-4" reducer to put the camera in with the base, then put a 4" section on it for the lens end.

That's the part # listed for the non Poe version in your link. You need 12vdc to power the camera. Typically a Poe network switch is used to both power the camera and to add it to the network (for Poe powered cameras). Alternatively, the camera can be connected to a router or regular switch...

Cam catches thieves - makes me wish I bought better camera

Makes me wonder if you added a PTZ with auto tracking and had a laser attached and sighted with the camera that would light them up (vs a red light) if that wouldn't make them think twice. A low power laser that wouldn't cause eye damage would work fine at night. Sounds like you have a lot a...

What I've done is to log into the camera with my iPad and the idmss app and use that to view from the camera while standing on the ladder. I had my laptop nearby with the web ui up to adjust the zoom. Once all was good, tighten the set screw and done.

    Female Trespasser at 3AM

You don't need a baseball bat nayr. One of those mags will work just fine and you won't damage the mag. I still think the "rack a round and scare 'em off" thing is silly. If someone is drunk or hopped up,on something, they won't care. Take a look at the recent shooting in Broken Arrow, Ok...

If you live in a dry area, that may be fine by itself. I would call the connector water resistant, not water proof. The tape will prevent moisture intrusion in areas that are really wet or get a lot of condensation.

Did you get a polarized filter for this yet? Got mine up and running this weekend and the daytime video seems a little washed out. It's been completely clear and full sun the last few days. One other observation, the night video is ok as long as there is some light around, but very dark if...

Still waiting on them. The tracking info has never changed. The seller extended the buyer protection on their own a few days before it was supposed to run out (4/1), and it now expires on 4/21. Figure I'll give it until around then as that will be over 60 days from when it was allegedly...

Word to the wise, if you open one of the turrets to insert a micro SD card or to move a desiccant pack that is rubbing on the lens, make sure that the rubber seal is set in place before you put the camera halves back together.
