    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Ive got 3 5231R-Z cams, a Dahua PTZ (cant remember exact model but its 25x Starlight), and a Sunba PTZ that I picked up before finding this site. Last winter I had one night at -44F and they ran fine. Tons of nights at -30F do not phase them either. The Sunba freezes up (literally) with ice...

PTZ control in VLC stream.. Possible?

No idea on the functionality of it, just learned about it last night. Will give it a shot as soon as my power supply arrives and I get this thing going. As far as vlc goes, I found the thread I'd read about ptz+vlc.. was from 13 years ago. It looks like the guy wrote something up to control the...

PTZ control in VLC stream.. Possible?

Right. I've read a lengthy forum where a guy wrote scripts to do motion detection and such in vlc (who knows if it's legit of course) so was hoping there was an add-on out there somewhere. Or at least a standalone program to control with viewing via VLC. Considering using surveillance room...

PTZ control in VLC stream.. Possible?

Apologies if this has been covered before but i can't find anything in search. I'm setting up an extra computer to view live IP CAM streams. OS will be a Linux distro, I usually use Ubuntu or mint. No recording or motion detection needed, just live streams of 2-4 cameras. Two of which are PTZ...

    Computer/software for calving setup

Well that's good it's possible to fix.. I admittedly know nothing about it, thanks for the heads up! I'm out doing AI work for a few more hours this evening, if you could send me a link to the thread on trouble shooting the problem or if you have a fix, it would be much appreciated! Thanks...

    Computer/software for calving setup

I have been busy with too many things to pay much attention. I did open VMS today or yesterday to see when a bull shipper was pulling in- it showed the cam with a red x next to the IP address. I figured it was random and cycling the power would fix it, I have not actually gotten to that yet...

    Computer/software for calving setup

I just installed VMS for the heck of it. It is a modern, much better program than their CMS software for viewing and PTZ movement. It looks like there are Blue Iris settings or maybe even a Blue Iris demo included in the .rar file.

    Computer/software for calving setup

Good. The support guys did suggest their VMS software (as opposed to CMS or device manager) to change IP settings. I never did as I manually figured it out before getting that suggestion. It might be useful for anyone else reading this.

    Computer/software for calving setup

I dont think it needs to be connected to internet outside the LAN unless you want remote access. I could be wrong though. FWIW I am getting smoother playback and better PTZ operation with the CMS software that comes with the Sunba camera than Blue Iris. Im sure that has to do with settings. I...

    Computer/software for calving setup

No info on cold for this camera, it has only been up and running since last night for me. It was only down to 5F (-15c) last night, but worked fine when I looked at it at 3 AM. The parents' cam did fine in December at -38F. Of course Im sure the specs on it are way different than the Sunba cams...

    Computer/software for calving setup

Hey Ive been trolling this site for info since about a day after I ordered a Sunba 805 (of course I find out about the Dahua after the order...) Matt I have the exact same role for my cam setup, calving system. My parents have a $3000+ setup at their place which has amazing cameras and far more...
