    Money & Economics

LOL, I had no idea a thread like this would exist on IPCamTalk. I'll just throw something on the pile as a "gold bug from old times". I don't know if you have all heard of Luke Gromen but his economic analysis might be seriously relatable to prepper/gold types. He is a guy who's not just...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Success hooking up the POE version of this doorbell and still getting my old-school mechanical chime powered by 24V AC Transformer to work! So I got this in the mail this week: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003574373377.html Here is a photo of the page in case it goes away: I wanted...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Deal. I just ordered the POE doorbell and the linked receiver. If you dont hear back from me assume electrocution.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I wonder if this could be used as the receiver instead of the one linked? This one supports 24V AC which is my current transformer. I could just mount this right inside the box housing the current chime...

    How are Dahua doorbells?

Sounds interesting is there a part number or a direct link for info yet? My hikvison doorbell cam is barely hanging on and I don't like it much anyway (DS-HD1)

    Door bell dilemma

They don't have the option to ring my old school 24v doorbell chimes do they? I have the hikvision DS-HD1 working (wireless) that way but I suspect it's slowly dying. Any upgrade path that supports onvif for blueiris and Ethernet and can ring the old chimes?

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

This is super helpful thank you. Now I gotta break it to the wife that all 5 of our cameras broke at the same time... That black car in the background of the first shot is exactly what I see with my 5231 so it's very cool to see how much better things could be. +1 for neighbor's Hearst

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

Thanks for the great leads. I forgot all about bokeh. LOL, I'd love to enter footage of a carjacking into a court of law and have the judge remark, "Thats some beautiful bokeh at the moment the defendant brandishes his gun"

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

Thanks for the feedback @triumph202 I am indeed zoomed most of the way in. One reason Im into varifocal is that I would try the camera out in various locations to see if I should replace other ones I already have as well :> Having one camera that can work in many situations is good for...

Which 4k/8mp color night vision cameras???

Any advice for those of us looking to upgrade? Im especially confused by these 4K and 8K cameras and what they would bring to my situation. I have a varifocal Dalhua IPC-HDW5231R-Z turret on the back of my garage facing into the alley. I put a pretty big security light back there which gets...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

I have one of these as well as a bunch of the earlier versions of same, almost all turrets. So crime is going up in the old hood and I'd like to add/upgrade cameras. What are some good successors to these cameras that are "better" without costs getting totally out of control? Ideally Id...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Thanks for the help. I may have it sorted now. What are you using as an external PIR? My blue iris is about 6 months out of date and as I look to renew it, Im thinking about using the Sentry AI platform to identify people and maybe cars from the video. But I also wonder if a proper motion...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Just went through page 101 to get my Hikvision HD-DS1 up and running. Thanks for writing that. I have the camera connected to blue iris but I'm having one problem. What I think I want is to use the HD stream on the Hik-Connect app (android and ios) and then one of the other streams records...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

The camera I mentioned a few posts ago was also from dragoneye (I have 3 and 1 of them has failed after about 6 months including an extremely cold Calgary winter). susan has been reasonably punctual in replying to me about the warranty (says there are 2 years of warranty on these) and I have...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Anyone know where I could get parts for this camera? The one I bought last fall has died with a similar problem to the ones some had earlier where the camera would just shut off one day and then only stay on for a few minutes before shutting off again. I have two other identical cameras on the...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Was thinking about that but (limited) personal experience and a set of posts in this very thread made me realize that sketchy people never seem to be aware of your fancy camera and so there may be more value in scaring them away with bright lights (cocroach effect) than getting better video of...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Any advice for someone who has one of these mounted in the alley behind the garage and is also looking at adding a "security light"? I was thinking about adding something big enough that I could just take full color video all night but that might be an obnoxious amount of light for the...

lol, ok.... https://kennycloud.ca/index.php/s/40aEkrGdLRuHpYR Not sure how long I'll leave that up. The 4 minutes in the middle is nothing but then he does come back at the end. I'm really only posting it because I want to know if someone knows what the hell he holding in his hand. I still...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I've been thinking a lot about this because I recently put up a cam on my garage facing into an alley with no lighting at all in it. Last week some shifty looking guy comes right up to my garage, takes off his backback and stands there with the (red) IR light from the camera hitting him in...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Stupid question time: Anyone know how to export the settings from the web-ui on these cameras? Using my modest intelligence I found this, but damned if that export button doesn't do anything at least on firefox or IE. Is there some secret hand signal?

Dahua + Blue iris general questions

Thanks for the advice all, esp aristobrat. Just in case it helps others my steps to get zoom working were: 1) Open "Add camera" wizard... 2) Input user name and password values 3) input the address of the camera but *do not include the port number* 4) leave the camera type at generic 5) Click...

Dahua + Blue iris general questions

Just got my Dahua starlight (IPC-HDW5231R-Z IPC-HDW5231RP-Z) in the mail and I have been trying to get it setup. Looking for a pointer or two. With SmartPSS I can connect to the camera and zoom and focus and see the IR working and hear sound so I know the camera is fully functional. But with...
