    No More Weather Underground Webcams

Just heard back from a meteorologist friend that owns a weather company that deals with this kind of stuff (even selling IP cams specifically set up to use weather underground)...He said that he recently learned of this and has been trying to come up with a work around. Said while his company is...

    No More Weather Underground Webcams

Bad news for nature/weather hobbyists that host your backyard webcams on Weather Underground...They're doing away with their webcam hosting service. WU says goodbye to Webcams – Customer Feedback for Weather Underground Granted, those that have used the service probably learned fairly quickly...

    changing from hikvision to dahua

Which Hikvision's are you having trouble finding? I see a lot of their newest "ultra low light" DS-2CD2XX5FWD-I cams on Aliexpress (where the first "X" is replaced with the style (0: Bullet; 1: Dome, etc..) and the second "X" is replaced with the megapixel (2: 2mp; 3: 3mp, etc.)...Most of these...

    No DST support?

There should be a simple javascript code that could be added to the firmware. I'm trying to view over the time setting codes now, but I have very little javascript experience, so I can only make partial sense out of it...If someone is familiar with javascript, it seems like it would be fairly...

Any Dahua cams WITHOUT the focus bug?

Losing focus on IRC filter position change is not the real problem, as this is perfectly normal...Anytime a filter is added or removed, your focus is going to change. This may or may not be noticeable, depending on how the lens is focused (ie. most fixed-focus cams are set for the hyperfocal...

Install problem. Can't Pan / Tilt Imporx 20x

    Does sound like either a communication protocol is incorrectly set. My RS485 is the same as @cuistots posted "9600 / 8 / 1 / none / none / 0 /Private"....Also, RS232 settings are: "115200 bps / 8 / 1 / none / none I would try these settings. If it doesn't work, then it's time to get Abe...

    Waterproofing PTZ Cam

Perhaps for some of the areas, but not sure exactly how the water gets in. Could be different places..That's why I figured it would be best to just put some kind of waterproof grease around any possible joint I can find...There's lots of different stuff out there (silicone sprays, etc.) that...

    Waterproofing PTZ Cam

After recently having a PTZ cam leak during a blowing rain, I'm looking for ideas on how to ensure that water doesn't break the seals on the housing, while leaving it able to freely pan and tilt. I'm thinking maybe something like mechanic's grease; Something that water would not be able to...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

There was a number of things I praised on this unit...Even giving it a rating of "4 out of 5" for basic security. Shutter speed was one of the complaints, but there was also white balance issues, FTP issues and focus issues (particularly in low light)... The part that flares my temper the most...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

This must be a new feature. I haven't found any compass on the November 2016 firmware; only a digital printout of the pan and tilt location in degrees.

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Only reason it became a big deal was a few folks like you with shitty attitudes because someone made a complaint about your "holier than thou" Dahua brand....Stick with the facts, my complaint had nothing to do with "bird watching" and I did not say Dahua was "junk"...I was looking for a cam...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Yes, very much unreliable..Surprising for what's considered a "top brand". I tried pointing this out a few months ago, but a group of "Dahua Fanboy" posters here tried to rip me a new one for saying it....but I'll say again what I said back then: This is a decent camera for the price for anyone...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Let me know if you get one...I've been strongly considering it, although there's a few features that I would like that are lacking...but for a general security PTZ, seems like the best for the price on the market right now..

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

That Jack dude has the Yunch (Huisun) ptz with starlight 20x module for 3-hundred and something bucks and the 30x version for 500 and some change (price varies if you need POE or not). If you message Jack on Aliexpress, he can give you the link...It's not officially listed on Ali as having the...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Yunch 20x PTZ With Starlight Module. Worth considering all sides of the argument there...Though me personally, I wish I would have gone with the Yunch instead of Dahua.

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Andy told me "1 year" through a private message a few days ago...So who knows what you actually get....Buying chinese cameras is like a box of chocolates...Never know what you're gonna get! lol

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

I would take Hikvision in a heartbeat if they offered a PTZ with starvis sensor and for a reasonable price. Last I checked, they didn't offer it...I've been considering the Yunch starvis PTZ. There's a certain few on the board that freak out when mentioning it, but what I've seen of it looks...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

They should, but unfortunately they don't see it that way. They're on a regional business model in which if you want their support and 5 year warranty, you have to pay extra and buy from someone authorized in your region...If you buy cheaper from Andy, you only get his personal 1 year warranty...

    Dahua Enable Telnet

@cor35vet So the cam didn't like the new firmware and now it's bricked. Edit to update: By following the directions on the "unbrick" thread, I managed to TFTP the old firmware back...Any idea why it bricked with the new firmware? It accepted it with no problem then restarted but it never would...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Who did you purchase from? Sorry if you've already said and I've forgotten...Unless it's an authorized dealer for your region, I have my doubts that the company will try to help...Usually you have to deal with the seller that you purchased from. I was having a chat with another guy a few days...

    SD10A248V-HNI PTZ

What price did they put for the custom's value? If they put a very low price for a large/heavy item, that could have triggered an inspection too. Would also be interesting to see what kind of custom's fees you'll be charged with.

    Dahua Enable Telnet

Ok, great! Do you know if it would be possible for me to add FFMPEG into the camera? I use this on an external computer to convert the RTSP stream to RTMP and push to the web. Would be interesting if this could be done internally without the need for the external computer.

    Dahua Enable Telnet

I went ahead and manually copied all 14 of the mtdblock files. Is that really all that needs backing up to do a restore? Nothing else at all in any of the directories that would be important to back up?

    Dahua Enable Telnet

What would be the best way to go about making an external backup copy of the cam? Surely there's got to be a better way than having to TFTP each file individually. With my Huisun cam, I was able to archive each directory as a TAR and then TFTP the TAR files. I see no way of making an archive...

Scratch that...Just tried for a 3rd time and it accepted. Must have been typing something wrong...Now let me see if I can do some exploring around in this thing without fucking anything up! lol

    Dahua Enable Telnet

Thanks! I'm trying the first one you did out now...It took the firmware and the cam seems to be working properly. Trying Telnet on port 2300 I'm getting to the login screen (couldn't do that before!)....But I'm getting an "invalid name/password" error when trying to log in....
