I agree it would be useful for ANPR use to have a manual focus setting I battled with the problem until I set the camera to turn to night mode before it got dark it works fine now.

Dahua won't see it as a focus issue as the camera isn't actually designed to use as an ALPR Camera, I just use schedule to switch to night mode before it gets dark when there's still enough light for it to focus itself correctly, if it switches in the dark it tries to focus and can't see...

My alpr camera is plugged into a poe port in my nvr and only seems to respond to external commands for a while after I have logged into it via the nvr through a browser but I did what Nayr said in another post and schedule to switch to night mode during daylight and find the focus stays fine all...

I have the IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 and found the Dahua IP-HFW5231E-Z5 LPR settings no use to me as it overexposes the night images, too much flare from lights and faded licence plates, tonight I set the shutter speed to 1/2000 and aperture to 34 and IR on manual 100% I'm capturing from 90 feet away...

Thanks for the suggestion I did consider these but had already purchased 2 x Dahua H2.65 IPC-HDBW4431R-ZS IP Camera 2.8mm ~12mm varifocal because of the enclosed dome and years of annoying cobwebs on the cameras on my old system
