    DoorBell camera usage

I am looking at doorbell cameras now and considering setting up a cheap tablet dedicated to the respective app to act as a dedicated door monitor. I don't think I would use my phone much and my wife is afraid of apps (don't ask). Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk

    Doorbell suggestion

I've been looking hard at that. Is there a way to setup a dedicated monitor in the house? My NVR is upstairs and not really a great location to run to everytime the doorbell rings. I'd like a monitor in the kitchen to view it from. If I could get the NVR video down there too, I would, I just...

    Doorbell suggestion

We would like to add a video doorbell. Our requirements are that it be simple to install and operate. Must be able to use existing doorbell wiring plus WiFi. Ability to record on my NVR would be a bonus, as would a local monitor, even if it's a stand alone. Apps are great, but honestly we aren't...

How to: access Chinese devices from iVMS-4200

Ok, with hik connect disabled the error goes away. But still no video. I'm beginning to think the computer just may not be up to the task as starting live view instantly pushes the CPU usage between 80-90%. When I select a camera and edit properties, I do see a still image of the cameras...

    Trouble with iVms

Someone had to have had a similar issue. If more info is needed, just let me know what to look for. Or, if there is an easier solution to viewing my cameras I'm all ears. Thanks Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk

    Trouble with iVms

I know I'm probably light on details for a diagnosis here. I can't seem to get live view or recordings through ivms. I can see the NVR and cameras, I can edit settings, I can see live view through hik-connect app and directly off the NVR, but not through ivms. I'm trying to use ivms to have...

    Newbie wants wireless security system

2Gig GC3 is a good DIY option, it is also installed by pros as I had a few local companies give me quotes and 2 of them were using this system. I'm in the process of setting one up right now and its pretty easy with good options/sensors. Still learning what all it can do, need to see if I can...

    First time terminating ethernet cable

OK, so essentially what I was doing is introducing so much cross talk that I want able to get data through it? But the shorter patch cable was short enough as to not be significant (5ft), but at 35ft it's significant? Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

    First time terminating ethernet cable

OK, you guys were right (you already knew that! ). Why does the camera care what color the jacket is? As long as both ends are the same I would think it would not matter. Are the different colors somehow different beyond color? Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

    First time terminating ethernet cable

What did I do wrong? I'm using cat 6 solid copper cmr riser rated cable. I copied the sequence from some premade patch cables that are known to work. With my cable, the camera powers on and the nvr trios to detect it and even sees it in poe management, but it will not fully detect it, no...

First time setup, cameras not working

Reread a few thread as well as DGWASW post here just to confirm and went for it. All 8 camera's are now functioning. Thanks to all for the input and helping out a new guy. Learning a lot in a short time! Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

First time setup, cameras not working

Ok, success, BUT...I disconnected the two working cameras, then changed the nvr password to match that of the hacked cameras. Camera then shows up with plug and play. If I understand correctly, once all hacked camera's are connected and running, I then change the password back to what it...

First time setup, cameras not working

Ok, I'm in SADP with a different computer now that had an actual ethernet port. The error message now just says "time out" after selecting modify. Firewall is temporarily of to ensure no conflict and I can see both the camera and the nvr. Interestingly I get the same error if i try modifying...

I'll have to check, but I can see the devices through SADP. I just cannot seem to modify. I have not tried to modify any settings on the nvr or other cameras though. I'll check when I get home. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

First time setup, cameras not working

well I just checked the version and I have 3.0.0.10 Odd thing is that I downloaded that directly through hikvision. That is the version they show on the website. I'm a bit confused by all the talk of 3.0.0.10 being the old version as that's the latest they show.

First time setup, cameras not working

Well SADP is enabled on the nvr. I checked through the Web GUI as well as directly through the nvr. I'll try another computer and see what happens, that's a bit more challenging since my other computer is a desktop and not on the same floor. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

    SADP and Gray Market

Ill report back what I find later when I try mine. I'm running an NVR and if they have done as you said, then I suspect when I run the NVR to my computer as other have suggested I may not be able to see my hacked cameras at all (which would be sad because they will be useless at that point).
