    20 8MP cams for 30 days

So...for a cost effective solution, the OP could use an embedded solution from a company like Ubiquiti, Pelco, Axis, Dahua, Hikvision, etc and save a ton of money! Example, a Pelco 2U server capable of at least 64 cameras with 8 hotswap slots is less that 2k+cost of drives and does raid 6.

    20 8MP cams for 30 days

I have 2 systems running 20+ cams on 7700k processors running over 450fps, although they are 5mp, so I didn't think the extra overhead would make that much difference. CPU usage is under 50% on both. These servers Don't run BI, don't run a GUI, and run raid cards, so maybe that is the...

    20 8MP cams for 30 days

Just a side note, but I would build a tower unit with 9 x 5.25 slots so you could install a DVD drive and 8 x hotswap disks. I absolutely love mine, and it was a heck of a lot cheaper than any 1u or 2u rack mount cases I could find. I think I paid about 150 including a 750w power supply, which...

    20 8MP cams for 30 days

If it were me, I would build: - I7-7700k or I7-8700k - 24gb Ram - 9266-8i Raid card - 8 x 8tb purple or skyhawk drives (I prefer Skyhawk) - Raid 6 configuration - Set frame rate to 15 initially, then evaluate after 30 days to see if fps needs changing. - setup a VPN router with DMZ utilizing...

Dell Optiplex SFF vs USFF heat?

I have benchtested hundreds of SFF computers from Dell, and ALL of them have loud fans. The issue is the size of the cpu cooler, which requires that the fan spin up to 3000+ rpm to keep temps under control. Let the thing sit and idle all day and sure, the fan is quiet, but run a benchtest on...

    Video Enhancement Software?

Yes, the Forensic version is as good as the video. Anything with text comes out great in most cases, as long as there are enough frames to extrapolate. I have used it a lot for image stabilization with good success also.

Dell Optiplex SFF vs USFF heat?

The SFF I have used most recently is an HP8200. The fan on it, as well as a 7020 and Pro Desk 600g3 all have loud fans. If you never load the cpu up, then the fan will never spin up past about 1000rpm. Let that fan run up to about 3000rpm and then tell me that it is silent. They all sound like...

    Video Enhancement Software?

LMFAO!!! There is enhancement software, but no one in their right mind would buy it for personal use. Look up Ikena. The spotlight version isn't worth anything, but the Forensic is amazing. A bunch of casinos use it around me. You're going to need to donate some organs and an arm or two to get it.

Dell Optiplex SFF vs USFF heat?

The loud cpu fan is the only issue I have with SFF PCs. My dad's system is running 5 cams on an all-in-one pc with 0 issues, so it should work fine.

    Camera viewing device

You say that...but I still have to use one at work....needless to say, it isn't 2018 at work, more like 2007! We are still using PLC5 and Bailey DCS for some of our most critical systems...tell me that isn't ludicrous.

    Power For IR Illuminators

For the longest time, I didn't know what I used, just what I was taught. I use the B standard. I'll get some of the splitters and try them out. I have a 240w budget on my switch with 30w per port max, so I don't think I'll get anywhere close to that with only 6 cams and 6 IR. Figure on 10w per...

    Power For IR Illuminators

The one I have is the 8led version. I will look into this one also, but if I can get a few of the smaller ones, then I shoud be okay. The only thing that bothers me is the Wide angle top to bottom. Maybe I can put a shield over the top and bottom to limit the spread and still get the wide light...

    Power For IR Illuminators

I didn't have much of a choice not to use a rack. It was actually the cheapest option that looked right. It is exposed in my office and building a cabinet for it with sliding shelves, power supply, fans, etc was going to cost more. I have 4 computers in it: Office, Master Bed, Living, and Video...

On a side note...the Chinese special IR illuminator I bought worked for about 12 hours then quit! lol...I am going to give it one more try and hopefully I just got a dud.

    Power For IR Illuminators

I am not using gigabit for the camera side, and it looks like the splitter is the cleanest install option. I would also save space on my Switch and not have to add the 2nd one, so more space savings there too. I bought an 18u rack thinking this big box would be plenty, but figured out really...

    Power For IR Illuminators

It seems like this is the best option to avoid adding equipment to my rack, which is already space limited. I have plenty of POE budget for what I need.(30w/port) Has anyone had any issues with camera feeds going through these cheap splitters? Should I buy one Chinese brand over another?

oh, on the 568b standard, that is the Blue(+) and Brown(-) pairs for power, correct?

    Power For IR Illuminators

I have looked at those, and if I have to, will be using them. the only issue is the garbled up mess it will leave in my rack. I am not concerned with the other end as it will be in the soffit and out of site. I will be running dedicated wires to the devices, so it would be nice to have a little...

    Power For IR Illuminators

I actually bought one, but it was a spot light and I need a 90° flood beam. I bought an 8w one from Amazon that does pretty good, but it is powered by a 2mm plug 12v. The only other illuminators that I can find Poe powered are super expensive. So, the options are to spend a ton, or figure out a...

    Power For IR Illuminators

I have POE available, but haven't found a solution for converting the POE to 12v DC that doesn't involve some hodgepodge. I can wire up 12v paired cable from a terminal block at my server rack, but that would require additional costs. Any suggestions for power? What is everyone else doing? I...

    Camera viewing device

won't work unless your Laptop has POE, but with a POE midspan connected, and a crossover cable, it would work fine. Some cameras require a crossover cable, while others do not.

    Dahua 5mp Starlight Dome Issues?

Here is the Driveway cam. it is a 4mp Hik OEM. Notice the Stop Sign and the Rough Country box. the Dahua couldn't read either, even when I take full quality snapshots through the BI server. Ignore the oil stains in the driveway...The supercharged escalade to the right decided to puke its rear...

    Dahua 5mp Starlight Dome Issues?

Now, in the Dahua camera's defense, there is a little difference in resolution of the pictures here on the forum, but not enough that it should make a noticeable difference. Aslo, as you can see, the Dahua does better with low light B/W than the Hik, if it were in focus. The Hik has some serious...

update...I talked to Dahua. Wonderful Experience!!! Answered the phone within 1min and, after explaining my issue, asked for the serial number to issue a warranty ticket to return for exchange. I will upload a couple night shots of the camera. overall, with the exclusion of the IR from the...

So...Here is an update. Email I got from the seller. Now, am I just a complete moron or does this idiot not see the difference between...
