    Blue Iris in docker working

Dreaming? Implied threat? For someone unaffiliated with the dev, you seem to take criticism of BI remarkably personally. I don't have a horse in this race - will use what makes sense to me. Feature parity of a subset of features is important - Microsoft is the king of breaking into enterprise...

    Blue Iris in docker working

BI seems to be the only software keeping many self-hosting home users from switching off esx/kvm/xen entirely and running their services in containers. Runs the risk of losing a chunk (perhaps insignificant) of the paying customer base if a container-friendly alternative were to evolve to good...

    stunnel

I've been using ZeroTier lately. Could still run stunnel over it, although that seems redundant. But it obviates the need to open ports, self host a VPN, run ddns, etc. in most cases. I found it to be easier than configuring stunnel.

    Best Operating system for BI

I found Server was a little less heavy with the useless add-ons out of the box. Didn't love that task manager didn't show GPU utilization in task manager as I was tuning BI/QuickSync.

Any backup to prevent system crash when on vacation?

By DVR, do you mean a separate system that continuously records? Not a bad idea if your primary box is unreliable or you can't get the motion detection tuned quite right.

Heavy image distortion and motion detection disruption with QuickSync

Just noticed GPU utilization is touching 100%. Not continuous but if the SVC change doesn't work I might pull a couple cameras off hardware acceleration to see if bringing GPU utilization down helps at all.

Heavy image distortion and motion detection disruption with QuickSync

Can't seem to remember my credentials for the server. This might be a while.

Heavy image distortion and motion detection disruption with QuickSync

Not sure how exactly to describe the issue, other than I notice motion clips are overtaken by blurry blotchy colors covering the entire screen. Usually get a couple seconds of clear video followed by several seconds of unrecognizable colors. Ignoring that, get some weird pixelation with...

Hard crash launching 64 bit version on Win10 KVM VM.

Well, I tried going back to plain old KVM/libvirt from Proxmox for curiosity and we're back into the blue screen when BI is launched world. Both Win10 and Server 2016. Nothing notable in Windows event logs from what I can tell. Have tried playing around with the vm hardware options to no avail...

Moved my Blue Iris from hardware to VM to save power.

There is hardware accelerated transcoding available for newer Intel CPUs depending on how you are playing out to the devices that need it. Might be worth exploring if/when you think about upgrading. Between HW acceleration on that and BI, you could potentially scale down the CPU specs quite a...

    Blue Iris/Homeseer/Emby/DVBLink pc

Did you set direct to disc on the camera settings in BI? It doesn't work when you are on the trial version, but saves a lot of CPU when used.

    Blue Iris/Homeseer/Emby/DVBLink pc

I built a dual xeon machine from used server equipment off eBay that does Emby transcoding and BI duty for 7 cameras. I do not use hardware acceleration on either Emby or BI. Its not like I'm transcoding all the time but I have CPU cycles to spare. Maybe not the best way to skin the cat, but it...

BI and Internet Data Caps ??

What is your configuration? D7000-->LAN + POESwitch--> Cameras? Not sure what the D7000 is capable of, but you could try dropping a second network device in between your D7000 and LAN to more closely monitor outbound traffic and rates.

Running Blue Iris in Virtual Machine

I had issues running the 64-bit version of BI in a VM. No idea why, but reinstalled 32 bit version of BI and the issue disappeared. Granted this was Debian/KVM. I nuked my host and tried Proxmox (which is really Debian/KVM with a GUI), reinstalled the guest, and now I can launch/run 64-bit BI...

    stunnel

I am finding that BI accepts connections via Stunnel from the mobile apps (at least Android). However for web connections the Stunnel session is dropped at the BI authentication page. I can view cameras/footage if I set the BI webserver to allow all connections without authentication; I get...

Hard crash launching 64 bit version on Win10 KVM VM.

In case anybody ends up here with a similar question, I never figured out why BI was crashing. However, I did reinstall Linux and tried again with Proxmox, and 64-bit BI starts without a hitch. In theory everything was identical.

Hard crash launching 64 bit version on Win10 KVM VM.

Sure, but many people do it successfully anyway. This instance is already running successfully in a VM, just not on the desired hypervisor.

Hard crash launching 64 bit version on Win10 KVM VM.

Currently running Windows 10 w/ Blue Iris directly on a computer dedicated to the task. I have a new computer (Xeon) that will take over, but it runs Linux. My first attempt at running Windows 10 in a VM was through VirtualBox. That was successful and I was able to install/run BI. My second...

Hard crash launching 64 bit version on Win10 KVM VM.

Hi, Trying to migrate BI into a virtual machine on a new server. Gave VirtualBox a go and it worked reasonably well (still in BI demo version and haven't migrated the license/config). Then tried KVM to run the VM. Windows throws a BSOD on launching BI ONLY for the 64 bit version. Blanking on...
