To VPN or not to VPN

SLY didn't allow anybody elses modems to be used until recently, and all they supplied was a locked down combined modem/router with single band wifi. When I read online that the OpenReach modem could connect to SLY, it was off to Ebay. £5 later and I had a modem. Plugged it in in place of the...

To VPN or not to VPN

I've just gone the ASUS router OpenVPN route, after spotting Chinese addresses trying to log in to BI. I started by trying to load OpenVPN on the BI PC, but found that very difficult to set up. After some reading online, I found I could replace my modem (Provider sounds like SLY) with an...

    BlueIris & Alerts (& HomeSeer)

Hi rfj, If you can see a message in HS, then BI is getting something through. I created a virtual device in HS3, and used that device number in the BI command. It works well here. I can add screenshots if you need them, but its beer time in the UK now ! My BI command is...

    Converting video from bvr

Thanks for the reply Bob, I'm having a bad day today :smash: The garage got the wrong parts for my car so I can't fix it. The local hardware shop sold me an outdoor lamp, that when unpacked was found to have a piece of broken glass in it. Hours wasted. Start again ! OK, so I had a look at the...

    Converting video from bvr

Hi all, I have a Dahua IP cam, and it records video & audio in the bvr format with BI. This plays back perfectly normally in BI with video & audio. Today I used UI3 top make an AVI of some footage, and the audio was missing. I then went to my server and did a MP4 export of the same footage, and...

Windows 10 Pro needs regular reboots

Thanks for that. I have started collecting screen shots. I will report back later in the week :goodpost: It has 32GB of RAM, so a memory leak may take longer to bring this pc down than my other pc's. Time (and screen shots) will tell.

Windows 10 Pro needs regular reboots

My BI server is also my Homeseer, DVBLink and Emby pc - Yes I know I should use a separate pc for BI !! Anyway, I have found that I have to reboot it weekly, as it slows down to a crawl. I did a full re-install of Win10 Pro, and only installed the above four programs. It worked well for a time...

Run Blue Iris as a Win32 service ?

Hi Zanthexter, to be clear, I am not talking about running the 32 bit or 64 bit versions of BI. I am meaning the BI built in selector to run it as a service, which is on my 64 bit version of BI. I have seen it called "Win 32 Service" in some posts, and so yes, I was concerned if that is the...

Mic too sensitive, what mic do I need?

That's interesting. I have a very similar Ebay microphone to the OP, and it sounds exactly the same as the "poor sound" video. I have a different cheap IP camera and BI. It sounds like a feedback loop to me rather than a snr issue. I actually bought two of the microphones, and they sound the...

Doing some research on memory leaks to understand better

I would think of it more like a bucket with a hole in it. You keep topping it up to the right level, and so use more and more of the available resources until there are no spare resources left. Crash.

Run Blue Iris as a Win32 service ?

Hi, since I normally run BI as a 64 bit program, would there be any reduced functionality if I used it as a service ? Does "Win32 service" mean 32 bit ? I tried it for a day, but had issues with UI3 on client pc's not being able to get the clips list. Not sure if that was as a result of using...

Blue Iris v4.0.6.x change date format and other issues

That last picture day.png is very dark. Do these cameras have IR LEDs ? I was wondering if the "smart supplement light" toggles that on and off. As for iPhones, if they are the same model, then I would advise trawling through the settings to see if there are any differences.

Blue Iris v4.0.6.x change date format and other issues

Blue Iris v4.0.6.x change date format and other issues

Hi again, 1. Does it have the "Auto" setting ? What options does it have ? 2. I'm guessing that you are in the USA - is it light enough outside to go into colour mode ?

Blue Iris v4.0.6.x change date format and other issues

Hi, there appears to be a few things going on here: 1. The cameras can add a time/date stamp as well as BI. Try turning that off. 2. Did the cameras ever show colour ? Have you changed the firmware ? 3. Can you view the cameras with the manufacturers original software ? Colour ? Tim

    Blue Iris Registration

There is a "deactivate" button in general settings to do that, and you can also export your settings to import them to the new pc. I did the same thing. It works.

    Blue Iris/Homeseer/Emby/DVBLink pc

OK, one response from Ken later, and they are recording. I hadn't realised that "direct to disk recording" is only for h264/5 streams and a 10 year+ old Picolo Pro 2 is not going to be doing that. I have now set BI to re-encode the two analogue cams as h264, and to save them as bvr. For the...

    Blue Iris/Homeseer/Emby/DVBLink pc

I managed to get the two analogue cameras to full SD definition, but I have noticed that they do not record to hard drive. I can see live images, and motion detected clips appearing on the RHS. Double clicking a recording appears to open a black box with a jpeg title (Note that the 4MP IP cam...

    Blue Iris/Homeseer/Emby/DVBLink pc

Reduced ! I just got the analogue cams working in BI using the Picolo Pro 2 card that is installed for iSpy. Can't get it above 640x480 but SD isn't much bigger than that anyway (I had managed 720x576 with a registry hack from Eurysys, but it doesn't appear to work with BI). Never mind, those...
