Anybody using BI for more than 30 cameras?

One way to cut the CPU usage is to decide which cameras need BI motion detection to trigger alerts/recordings, and which ones would be OK to off-load the trigger to the camera's motion detection. It also helps to remove overlays that are generated by BI and use the overlays generated by the...

    Blue Iris lousy support

I've found it depends on the detail needed for the reply to my question. My last email was a feature request, and it was added two days after my email. That was crazy fast. Other times I've had a question about how to use a feature and I've usually ended up figuring it out on this forum or by...

New IPC-T5442TM-AS is already crapping out?

Are you able to view the camera on the web interface when it shows loss of signal in BI? Does resetting the camera in BI bring it back up (not a camera reboot)? I have a few cameras that are doing this, but it seems to be more of an issue with some configuration for my windows box than the...

Alarming Night Noise -- Fastest Way to Record All Cams?

The feature is built in so you can "press a single magic button". All you need to do, as fenderman mentioned, is to setup the profiles. One profile how you currently have it, and one to record all of the cameras continuously. Change profiles and you are in business. Also, you can setup Alexa to...

BI + Smartthings & or Sonos

Not sure about the Smartthings and Sonos, but you can have the BI app alert with a different sound for different cameras by configuring in the camera's alert properties tab. You can also have the alert run a script that you could then integrate into your system to play the file.

Blue Iris app freezes when viewed for extended periods

If you're streaming from BI, you'll need to change the streaming profile. (Options-->Web Server-->Advanced...-->Configure...). Try a reduced bit rate and/or output frame size.

Blue Iris app freezes when viewed for extended periods

Reducing the streaming resolution can also help prevent a delay if the receiving hardware can't keep up with the stream in real-time.

Also, be sure to exempt the Blueiris.exe and folders from any antivirus software. Antivirus programs (including Windows Defender/Firewall) can really slow it down and/or disrupt the traffic as it scans the streams.

New Blue Iris Setup - Plenty of compute power, but poor performance.

What does the video look like when you stream one of the cameras from the configuration page of the camera (on the server)? Do moving objects track ok? It seems the network should have the power, but maybe there is a network issue somewhere in there.

    100% Cpu - any solution / driver for 4th gen Haswell ?

Do any of your new cameras use H265 or the smart encoding (H264+/H265+)? The hardware decoding on your CPU won't work with H265, and if there is a lot of recording going on using H265 with your higher MP cams, it can max out the CPU pretty quick. I had to make sure all of my cameras used H264...

    BI direct-to-disk question

Once I've tuned my cameras, I have had my BI machine run for months without a restart. It is usually a windows update or other software update that drives me to restart. The memory leak comes down to the Intel driver version and integrated graphics version. I haven't had an issue with it.

Configuration for Internal Home access only

Configuration for Internal Home access only

To set everything up without a router and a DCHP server (usually your router handles it), all you need to do is set a different static IP (in the same subnet) on Each camera and the computer (192.168.1.*). If the PC and cameras are all connected to the same switch, you should be able to view all...

I am running an i7-4790, which has the Intel Graphics 4600. I am using driver version 20.19.15.4531 and I have BI 4.8.4.6. I haven't noticed any CPU changes since updating BI. Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

Changing the encoding to h264 reduced the CPU power required to decode in BI. Also, your processor wasn't able to use hardware acceleration to the decode the H265 because of its age. So by switching to H264 and turning on the intel Quicksync, you reduced the bottle neck that you had before that...

Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

Try switching the cameras to H264. H265 requires more processing power (roughly 2x more) to decode and can cause the choppiness. I don't think your CPU can use Quicksync with H265 either, but it may work with H264.
