    BI on poweredge server/win 2012 r2 server?

well, server is here, I'm getting it up to speed, going to try it with and without a 1080ti, see how it goes

    BI on poweredge server/win 2012 r2 server?

Thanks. power issues really aren't my concern. I'm trying to simplify/decrease network congestion/ reduce the number of boxes I have to administer in the house. the poweredge is going to be running all the time anyway... even if I drop in a 1060 or a 1050 (I have one of each hanging around)...

    BI on poweredge server/win 2012 r2 server?

Yeah, my question really meandered about -- but the punchline is I'm wondering whether there are any incompatibilities between windows server and bi -- especially when running as a service. many software packages won't run on windows server (even though it's completely compatible) , b/c the...

    BI on poweredge server/win 2012 r2 server?

yeah, that would make it a great BI box, but a horrible entertainment/HTC pc. :-) I'd have to build yet another box to do that.

    BI on poweredge server/win 2012 r2 server?

I'm currently running a poweredge server for various purposes, running two e5 v2 xeon cpus. Since xeons don't have quick sync, I didn't feel it worth putting blue iris onto the server (most likely would have been fine, since I'm running 2x xeons with 20 threads each). The server is doing very...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

I have a titan XP, I'll check... where are the settings for mp/s? I'm running 12 cameras on my titan, still only at 35%, which makes me think I'm vastly under utilizing it.

    BI an ring?

I agree. I am holding out hope that at least they build in 24/7 recording.. now that amazon owns them, seems a natural fit.

    BI an ring?

I checked with their support, they say releasing an API as a "potential" down the road. shame, would be nice to integrate the doorbells/floodlights into the BI fold.

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

thanks, I see that --- I turned off "limit decode" on all 11 cameras, and CPU usage (with Intel decoding on) jumped from around 20% to 35-40%. with CUDA decoding on, cpu usage dropped down again to under 20%, the gPu is barely off idle.

    thats what I figured.

    BI an ring?

I have a few ring/flood light cameras in my network (for various reasons) -- any way to bring them into the fold under BI?

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

ok, could have worded the question better.. was wondering if the impact of selecting "limit decoding" is minimized using cuda vs. intel. I'll try it out and see. Regardless, I'll likely stick with cuda decodig, BI does seem more responsive with it enabled. Not sure if it's the new version...

4.7.8 - August 28, 2018 - Support for the Nvidia CUDA hardware decoding

not a huge drop in cpu usage on my end either. I'm running an i7-7700k and a titan xp, cpu usage dropped from around 24% to 18%, titan barely off idle. Playback overall does seem snappier... going to try increasing framerates on cameras see if it's still snappy. if using cuda, does it matter...

proper settings for camera to continuously record *and* flag motion?

sorry-- I meant when I have it "checked off," I have it checked.. there's a check mark in "motion sensor" currently./

proper settings for camera to continuously record *and* flag motion?

I'd like a few cameras in my setup to record continuously and to flag any motion. What are the proper settings in camera properties to do this? I currently have it set on the "record" tab to "continuous", and on the "trigger" tab, I have "motion sensor" checked off. I'm getting continuous...

    camera recommondation

Thanks. I already have a lorax 4knpointing the opposite direction, and am generally.satisfied with the level of zoom I'm getting, and the night time quality is actually really good (for my application anyway, I have low volt lights throughout my property, eno8gj so pic quality is really good)...

    camera recommondation

looking to add a few cameras to my existing blue iris system. Currently running a mix of Lorex 4k/hikvision 2k cameras. trying to stay within the $200-$300/camera range. other than the obvious (good camera, good low light performance) Looking for- * 4k (Cameras scanning over large acreage...

How much cpu is too much for BI?

yeah, but it's cool :) I actually had an extra one laying around, otherwise I would have thrown in a 1050 or 1030. I do use the computer once in a great while to play games, and every so often to watch an old movie that isn't on google play. But yeah, I know, massive overkill.

How much cpu is too much for BI?

Go big or go home. I have a 6950x with a Titan xp 2017, seriously considering upgrading to a 7980xe (nose-thumb at AMD.. "threadripper," indeed) and a titan V. Just because. (but you can make due on far far less if all you want to do is run BI. 7700 is fine)

    proper settings to continuously record?

ok.. so If I set up trigger on motion, and record continuously, should record continuously and flag motion events? that's the way I have it, and I'm only getting motion events recorded, no continuous recording.

    proper settings to continuously record?

been having issues recently with cameras not recording continuously. I have a few in my setup I want to record all the time + flag triggered events. I thought I had everything set up properly, but now not so sure. A few questions: * IS the proper way to do this (record continuously + flag...

    any thoughts on xprotect?

have to say, I've been playing with this for a few days now and I'm very impressed with xprotect. The rules-based camera triggering are awesome, and the clip timeline is very well done (not to mention cpu usage is extremely low) . Blue iris can't be touched at its price point, but xprotect is...

    any thoughts on xprotect?

Thanks. I had used image rec when I was using sighthound (which I abandoned for BI), the image rec was the only thing that software got right -- made reviewing clips far easier (e.g., only show clips with people, cars, etc). But they seem to have positioned themselves as an image-rec company...
