    Old Honeywell Vista replacement

I have an old Vista alarm system from the last home owner. Some of the window sensors have changed. I don't know the code. Presumably, because all the wiring is done, will it be easy for me to install a new security system and make use of the old wiring somehow?

    EmpireTecAndy fast DHL shipping!!

Might be fast, but I was a bit disappointed with @EMPIRETECANDY's recommendations on cameras. I presume you guys don't use his services for advice??? Out of these two in each scenario, which would work best? (only if obvious to you!) For a trusted seller, I'd expect more.

Out of these two in each scenario, which would work best? (only if obvious to you!)

thanks @aristobrat ! I did put that in my specs - need good night vision, and it's not a well lit area at all - so in that case I absolutely need to rule the 2xxx series out. I haven't played with that - thanks man, I'll go give it a whirl. Cheers.

Out of these two in each scenario, which would work best? (only if obvious to you!)

Hey @mat200 and @aristobrat Thanks so much guys for the responses - I really appreciate it ! So helpful !!! Sorry for the late response, I had some computer issues. @mat200 OK that helps solidify my thinking - the price difference isn't even that much, so you're right I should stick to the...

Out of these two in each scenario, which would work best? (only if obvious to you!)

So I didn't have much luck with my initial threads, so I asked @EMPIRETECANDY and he was kind enough to give me some pointers. The second choice is when I asked him if there were lower cost options. I have read the Wiki but still feel quite out of my depth. I don't expect anyone to give me all...

    Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE review

Thanks @Crazykiller so looks like the 5231R-Z still wins, too bad that they went back on the design. What do you recommend for an area 35 feet by 35 feet, and a driveway that is about 25 feet down to 35 feet where the cars are?

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

That's a good point - laws of the country. And neighbors - I don't want to invade their privacy so need to think about that.

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

You're joking about the fruit surely. What is you big ugly camera, @SoCal :D Yes good idea about them posing for hidden ones - these are great ideas! (except the fruit one haha)

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

Cool! I'll check the mini IR webge out as a front door camera! - thanks. @EMPIRETECANDY also sent me some suggestions so I'll spend the next couple of days doing some more research. Excited - thanks again man.

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

lol about the cat neighbor @TheDank - that's sneaky! Very good points as well. Which dome do you have? I keep hearing negative things about domes here but I think it's just the UV degradation if it's in sunlight. Thanks also @crw030 and @mat200 (just learnt a new acronym - WAF!)

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

My neighbor and I had a pow wow just now. He thinks we should make the cameras very distinguishable so that it acts as a deterrent. But I know many ipcamtalkers like "discreet" cameras - is there any reason for this? What am I missing?

Is HFW5231E-Z5 Bullet possibly better than the HDW5231E-Z turret ?

As far as I can see the 5231E-Z5 is a bullet which goes up to 35mm but has no microphone. 5321E-Z goes to 12mm and has built in microphone. A friend reckons the Z5 is much cheaper. But what is the downside, and what is the real function of the microphone on the camera? Are folks trying to pick...
